Carroll ran away with the second moto victory while Taylor and Spriggle sq uared 0(£ again in a dice for second spot. Taylor held Spriggle at bay, but his 3-2 tally was only good for third overall. Spriggle's 1-3 earned top honors over Carroll's 4-1. J ames Hard y made his Senior Mini division debut a memorable one as he pulled the holeshot ahead of 31 other riders. Before th first lap was completed, however, Scott/Bel Ray's Hank Moree took over the lead and set the pace for his eventual perfect score. Tennessee's Mike Brown was unable to start the first moto but came back in malO two for a convincing second place finish. WOODLAND, WA, JAN. 10 Honda-mounted Steve Frieser rode to a steady 2-1 finish to win the 125cc Pro class of the motocross held today at Woodland. In the Old Timer Expert class Gary Chase, also Honda-mounted, held off Gary Bonds and Jim Monegan to win the overall in that division. Unbelievably good weather greeted a large turnout of racers as Larry Ward took the lead in the first go around in the I 25cc Pro class. Behind him in order was Oren Bray, John 'Sowards, Darrel Martens and Bryan Birkestol. Ward, who is now Yamaha sponsored, went out to a 50-yard lead' while looking better than ever. Meanwhile, Frieser was making up for a poor start by passing one or two rider per lap. By lap eight he was up to second ah ad of awards, Martens, Todd Turnbull, Bray and the rest of th~ field. At the finish the order remained the same. In the final moto Frieser made up for his first start by grabbing the holeshot and going wire to wire. Close behind him was Sowards, Bray, Martens, Birkestol, and the others. Bray moved up to second after fighting his way by Sowards. The first six. positions ran unchanged and at the checkered flag it was Frieser, Bray, Sowards, Martens and TurnbulL. Jim Monegan grabbed the holeshot in mota one of the Old Timer Expert class. Behind him in order was Bonds, Chase, Ron Monroe, Roger Knight, and John Foster. On lap two Chase got past Bonds and Monegan for the lead.
