NOV. 9 Yamaha rider Doug Dubach used a 1-2 combination to wrap up the 250cc Pro class win at DeAnza MX, today, beating Ka~asaki pilot Jeff Matiasevich and Suzuki-mounted Mike Healey. The start of the first moLO saw Suzuki Country's Luther French power his Suzuki in the lead followed by Dubach, Healey and Moto-X F~x's Matiasevich. By the end of the fust lap, Dubach had taken over the lead while Matiasevich moved into second; French had control of third place ahead of Healey and Keith 0' eal. A lap later, Healey slipped into third and the three leaders battled for the remainder of the IS-lap race. Dubach kept his Yamaha wired throughout the moLO, keeping Matiasevich at bay. As they crossed the finish line, Dubach took the win ahead of Matiasevich, Healey, French and O'Neal. Round two belonged to Yamaha's Broc Glover, who only competed in the last half of the first moLO. But it wasn't until the fourth lap before Glover was able to slip by first-moLO winner Dubach and maintain his lead for the next II laps for the win. Dubach knew a second-place finish •would be more than enough to claim the overall vicLOry, so the Yamaha rider was content where he was and landed second in the moLO for the overall. Matiasevich took a fifth-place start - one ahead of Healey - but had control of third by the end of the first lap. Healey chased Matiasevich every lap but couldn't find the hot line around the Kawasaki rider. When it was all over Dubach won followed by Matiasevich's 2-3, Healey's 3-4 and O'Neal's 5-5. Glover wound up taking sixth overall, via a II-I. In the 125cc Pro class, it was Scott USA- ponsored Kyle Lewis (Honda) taking the early lead in the first moLO ahead of Dubach, Matiasevich, Jimmy Palmer (Kawasaki), Dave Williams and Bader Manneh. All eyes were focused on the duel for the lead between Lewis and Dubach which lasted the entire race. Lewis led for 13 laps before Dubach finally stuffed his way into the lead. For the last twO laps, Dubach kept Lewi .in his wake for the hard-earned wm. Matiasevich followed a lillie ways back in third ahead of Manneh, Palmer and Williams. The second moLO saw Matiasevich steal the holeshot for a short-lived lead. During the first lap, Man~eh stuHed his Yamaha by Mauasevtch and inLO the number one position. A few turns later, Dubach also slipped by Ma tia evich and set after Manneh. For the first four laps, Manneh had command of the race while Dubach closely pursued, but during the fourth lap, Manneh dropped out handing Dubach the lead and Matia evich second place. Dubach then put it in cruise control and flew home for his third moLO win and second overall of the day. Matiasevich wound up taking second overall ahead of Lewis and Palmer. Results JR CVCLES: 1. CAGlVA sales· service. parts By Mike Vancil at Bayland today. In the first five-lap moto, Rabe could not reel in Jeff Wenger and Wenger went on LO score the win by about six lengths. As the gate dropped in moLO one, Wenger burst into the lead on his Coast Honda-sponsored machine. Late in the event when Wenger had it on cruise, Rabe started to pressure him for the lead. Although Rabe came close, it was the relaxed and easy race pace of Wenger and his ability to get through the stutter jumps quickly that gave him the victory in moto o n e . . . In the second moLO It was a remspired and rapidly returned LO form Gary Farge that gave Wenger all he could handle. While Wenger was trying to son out how to get around Fargo, it was Matt Arena way out in frOnt on his Kawasaki being trailed by Rabe. Rabe timed his charge a little close, but it worked out in his favor. With two comers separated by a shon straight and the stutter jumps to do, Rabe left his throttle on longer and passed Arena going into the next to last comer. Then he heat Arena LO the final left hand corner and squirted through the rockers with the lead. Rabe was victorious in the moto and the overall winner. For Arena his second overall finish was a victory too, as he is now nearly LOtally healed from a terrible crash two years ago that nearly ended his racing career.
