Finishing second overall and first 200cc A was Yamaha-mounted Scott Crawford after dropping four seconds. A three-way tie happened between Steve Bebeck (20Occ A Vet), Mike Smith (Open A) and Randy Pritzer (25Occ AA) for third place, after they aJi earned a .05 total. Early in the first loop, riders faced the first and only special test of the day. Most of the A riders zeroed the check but some managed to burn it. Sixteen-year-old Lori Boretree topped all "family" one loopers on her Suzuki RM80 and took the B Women class overall with a 1.35 score. Fifteen seconds back came first place 125cc C rider Brian Knapp, followed by Honda-mounted Chris LeMaster. At2.l21, Larry Peters claimed first Beginner, while Kevin Oeland rounded outtbe top five in the Mini B class. The start of the second loop also featured a check that many riders burned, including Husky rider Rick Daniels, This check was the most burned of the day. Yamaha IT200-mounted Tony Casaga finished sixth overall and second 200cc A with a .07 scorecard, while Honda XR250 rider Lowell Spiva placed seventh (first 250cc AA Vet) with a l4-second loss. Gardner wins SDH Hare Scrambles By larry-McBride BINGHAMPTO ,NY, NOV. 16 Riders competing in the first of Square Deal Riders Mud and Snow Hare Scrambles were greeted wi th all the mud anyone would desire, and Randy Gardner continued his domination of the Expert clas . The winner of the last two winter series, Gardner zipped to the front immediately off the start of the one and a half hour event, where he remai ned with Ii ule effort until checkered £lag time. Doug Fleming experienced more difficulty as he regis tered only a seven th posi tion through the first lap scoring station, but by the end of the race he had moved past all riders except Gardner to nail down second place.
