Faulkner leaped into the lead at me
of moto twO, juSt ahead of
Arnold and Honda of La~ Vegassponsored racer Taylor. Arnold
£lashed past for the lead right away,
but couldn't shake the determined
Faulkner. Faulkner Slayed close, then
returned the favor in the back of the
rrack, retaking me lead before the
first lap was over. Arnold and Taylor
continued dogging Faulkner and the
three-way fight [or first continued for
the entire race. Finally, halfway
through the final lap, Arnold muscled
his way past to take the win and the
overall victory. Faulknerfinished with
a well-deserved second overall, with
Taylor in third.

MONTEREY, CA, NOV. 8
In round six of the seven race
High Point Series it was Paul
Iwanaga from Gilroy, sponsored by Lee Braquet Racing,
T.I. Landscaping and Gilroy Honda
that came Out the winner in the 500cc
Expert final. The High Point Series
was me final 1986 promotion of R&D
Enterprises and was sponsored by
Stroh's Beer and Pepsi Cola.
The turnout of experts for mis
event was heavier than normal, so the
riders were divided into heats with
only the tOP six from each heat moving to the [inal. Iwanaga won his
heat, the second division, and then
proceeded to outclass all who were
able to get into the final with him.
Rob Damron was mired in midpack
and it took him the entire race to
break free and land in second place.
Each lap was a carbon copy of the
prior one for Iwanaga, he held the
lead and never looked back. Iwanaga
took his immaculate Honda to the
win with Damr.on second and Steven
Raymond third.
The veteran Junior class rider, Mark
Butler showed the rest of me Junior
class riders how it was done. Butler is
sponsored by Gatsby Racing' Team,
Nye & Canepa Racing Enterprises
and Fasts' Palo Alto Yamaha, and he
led the final wire-to-wire. Cory Perreault and Butler bauled for about
the first six laps with me slight edge
going to Butler. Late in the event, on
the white £lag lap, it was Tony Alves
on a ROlax who came up to challenge
Perreault for second. Just yards before
me checkers Alves was able to get
under Perreault and get the beuer
drive off the last corner to take second.
Butler took the win. Alves was second
and Perreault settled for third.
