The fans had a double treat as longtime factory mini star, Lowell Thompson also showed up. In lhe first moLO of lhe l25cc Pro class 14 riders took 0[£ wilh Ward out trom followed by Steve Oster, who can win almost anvwhere. Next was Oren Bray, Scott Steffy, John Sowards, David.Bailey, Lowell Thompson and the other pros. On lap two Bailey and Thompson moved up two spots while Oster chased Ward. Ward rode a flawless race as Thompson continued to move up. By lap six Thompson was right behind Oster, who was still unable to catch Ward. At the checkered flag it was Ward, Oster, Thompson, Bailey, Steffy and the others. In the final moto Bray got the holeshot, followed by Ward, Steffy, Sowards, Thompson and lheothers. Ward, Steffy and Thompson had all moved up by lap two. Ward was back out front and looked great everywhere. Back a ways was Steffy and Thompson. With two laps LO go Thompson was into second, but Ward seemed untouchable today. At the checkered flag lhe LOp three were Ward, Thompson and Bray. In the 250cc B class Steve Smith grabbed lhe holeshot ahead of Chris Staley, Wayne Dixon, Dan Blasdell, Dan Engelke and Nick Blasdell. On lap four Dan Blasdell was up to second while cousin Nick was flying through the pack trying to catch the leaders. By lap five Nick was up LO third, but there weren't enough laps left for the young speedster to catch Smilh, who was looking good out fronl. At the flag it was Smilh, Dan Blasdell and Nick Blasdell. In moto two Dan Blasdell led a tight group of 21 riders off the line. Behind him in order was Jeff Jacobson, Smilh, Dixon, Nick Blasdell, Engelke and the resl. By lap two Nick Blasdell had passed everyone to take over the lead. Right behind him was steady Steve Smith but Blasdell was uncatchable now that he had a hold of the lead. Young cleans White Rose trials By Mike Dunfee JEFFERSON, PA, OCT. 19 The White Rose Motorcycle Club hosted the ninth round of the D-6 trials season, and 69 riders signed up to do battle. Beta-mounted Ryan Young was the top rider at the event claiming th~ Expert class win after dropping just four points, beating Brock Sattelmeier (16) and Craig Fish (19). The event featured seven sections per class laid out along a two-mile loop, consisting mostly of off-camber turns, scattered logs and bank climbs. While Young was busy claiming the Expertclass win, Terry Anlsomo was busy working his way on capturing the Amateur class title with a class win today, over Tony DeJuliis. In lhe Intermediate class, Bunkey Miller nailed the first place overall with a win over fellow D-7 rider Jeff Pickle.
