Michelin/Shoei/Tsu baki Suzuki GSXRlloo. • In other action, Scott Zampach won three Novice races onhis Torque Center/Don & Roys-backed Yamaha FZ750 and Honda 500 Interceptor. Hall started his day by battling Andy Fenwick in the C Production race. The race started with Hall, Fenwick, Ed Key'and Gene Burcham breaking away from the field. Behind the leading quartet were Chip Terrell, Fritz Kling and Dan Chivington, who was getting his first taste this year of the competitive middleweight class. Hall and Fenwick broke away and stayed close all the way to the checkered flag, where Hall squeaked out the win. Burcham beat Key to the line for third and Chivington finished fifth. "If you make a mistake on these bikes, (600cc) it takes yoP several laps to make it up," said Chivington after the race. "I never realized how competitive this class was." The 500cc Interceptor race saw Hall walk away from the field. A fourway battle for second developed between Chip Terrell, Scott Zampach, Ed Key and Fritz Kling. Novice rider Zampa~h pulled oUlsecond, followed by Terrell and Kay. The A and B Production races were exciting. In B Production racing, Harth jumped in front on the first lap followed closely by Chivington, Key and Terry Hampton. Chivington passed Harth once but was quickly passed. On the last lap Chivington tried a daring inside mqve while braking hard into the Carousel. Harth slammed the door on Chivington forcing Chivington to clamp down on the binders. Cook perfect at Baylands Spdwy 9J11r&~ By Bill Spencer FREMONT, CA, SEPT. 25 John "Cowboy" Cook aced the Baylands Raceway Class A Championship completing a great season for the internationally renown racer going five for five and a perfect 15 points, while NorCal champ Bart Bast proved second best with I4 points and Jim Sisemore third with 13. The 20-event program started with first alternate Mark Day getting the nod but it was Nick Geraniowith the start and a no nonsense win over Steve Crawford and Greg Martz. Bart Bast started out just right with a gate off the pole that he held throughout the race over Mike Delacy and Chris Paulson. Mike Parsons topped the third event over Mike Solis and John Volk. The fourth race was the best rated of the night. Cook came off the pole with the start, ahead of the Volcano Kid Jim Sisemore. Running that way for two laps, Martin rode high and wide, while Sisemore was forcing his way to the inside line,. On the last lap, Cook got a little room working for himself and won by inches over Sisemore and Martin. Bast banged a good start in the second set of heats over Parsons and Stu McDaniel. Sisemore came off the pole in event six for ~ big win over Jeff Kniss. Cook had hiS work cutout for him in event seven, going up against Delacy and Crawford, which he did just fine. Delacy had things under control but Crawford was quite close. Steve Martin came back to win event eight.
