CA. ocr. 13 "It feels great, I just came out to ride against the guys from California and see how I'd do.'" That's what Yamaha's Jeff Stanton had to say after his performance in round six of Continental Motospon Club's Dodge Dakota-sponsored . . Trans-Cal Senes, held this week at Argyll Park. 10 Stamon has ridden strong with consistem finishes throughout the series to finally clinch the 250cc title at Argyll. Stamon took command early in the first moto ofthe 250s. BUl with the fact that he only needed a LOp five finish in round two to capture the title. he rode conservatively in the second moLO LO finish fourth. But it was Yamaha's Billy Frank who took the 250cc win today. Frank shot out of the gate like a rocket to holeshot bOlh mo~os. Stanton was the only one keepmg pace and evemually was able LO slip by to take the first moLO win. In moto twO Frank was unstoppable taking the ~oleshot a.nd never lookm~ back, he flmshed with a 2-1 nde. Bnan Myerscough rode all ~hre~c1asse~after relUrning from racmg tn Italy Just three days earher and finished out the day in third for his 4-3 performance. In 125cc action, it was once again Hallman-supported Yamaha rider Bader Manneh who rode in truly convincing style to caplUre the overall 'j------"-------------------, Bri.n Myerscough rode .11 three Pro c"_••t Argyll Park. He fini.hed fourth in the 126••nd took thirds in the 260 .nd 600cc c1...... with an impressive I· I showing. Honda riders. Kyle Lewis and Ty Davis followed finishing OUt the day in that order with their 2-2 and 3-3 rides. Manneh's only problem of the day came in molO one. Chasing Mannell was FMF's Willie Surratt (Honda), who was trying everything in the book to get by until a midmoto seizure baited his drive. Manneh finished (1)e moto without a problem. Round two was just as impressive with Man· neh taking the lead from Davis and running away with the win. Honda's, Brian Manley took his machine LO the 500cc win with a 3-1 ride to narrowly beat out Stanton's 2-4. Myerscough showed 0(( some of his Open class ability by riding his big-bore Yamaha (mounted with up- . side down Ohlins front forks) to an impressive first moto win. Also secure in fourth was Davis, while charging hard on Craig in sixth was Honda rider Shaun Wooten. behind him was Myerscough. Without a position change things remained the same until the fourth lap when Surratt made a move on Manneh. The two entered a turn with Manneh going inside and Surratt going wide; Surratt looked to have the drive coming out but Manneh held onto the lead by a slim margin. The two riders were never farther apart than a wheellength. Lewis still held tbird but DeHoop was nowhere to be found, Davis took control of third, wbile Wooten found a way past Craig LO control fourth. Craig feJI yet another posiuon when Myerscough gOt by for fifth. Positions stayed that way umil lap nine when S~rratt seized coming out of a turn. With a few laps remaining, Myerscough was pressuring Wooten until he finally got by taking control of fifth. Manneh ran smoothly the rest of the race to take the win followed by Lewis and Davis. In moLO two Davis came on strong to take the holeshot followed closely by Lewis, Manneh, DeHoop and Surratt.
