Seca back in July would return it for a reward. I'm just a poor racer and need my street jacket. Give me a call at 415/948-1095. STEVE HOLT Los Altos, CA Goodbye, Formula One7 Congratulations to Randy Renfrow who beat a (our-time World Champion (or Lhe U.S. Formula One title. You've come a long way since racing production bikes at Summit Point in the '70s, Randy. I've noticed quite a few Formula One machines for sale in Cycle News. What are guys like Renfrow, Bal1ington and Paulk going to do in 1987? Since our country is too ignorant to support their obvious talents, I hope Lhey al1 go to Europe to compete in the World Championship Road Race Series. It seems strange that the best rjders in the world are from the USA, a country that is eliminating the very class (rom which these racers are bred. Good luck l.O al1 our GP stars in '87, whatever they decide to ride. PAUL McCRANE Orlando, FL While no official word has been issued by the AMA regarding the Formula One class in 1987, Paul, you've no doubt noticed that besides the three riders you name very few competitors in the F-1 class ride "GP bikes. In fact, at the next-to-last Camel Pro round at Mid-Ohio, Renfrow won the F-I race but the next two finishers were aboard Suzuki GSXR750 "street" bikes. ThefinalroundatRoadAtlo.nta saw the three riders you name and Boonie Knott, who rode a Suzuki RG500, occupy the top four spots, but Renfrow was beaten in a heat race by HondaSuperbike-mounted Wayne Rainey. If indeed F-I is history in the U.S., we trust that many riders will cut their teeth on "Gp u bikes in the. always competitive Formula Two class . . . Editor.. U Road race fan You have a fantastic newspaper and I have very few complaints except to say I'd like more World Championship 500cc road race coverage, as well as more inside Grand Prix racing rumors. Please expand, i( at all possible, your road racing coverage here in Lhe U.S. and outside this country. I love two-stroke machinery and would like more coverage on such machines as Lhe TZR250, NS400R, RG500, RZV500, RZ350 and RG680. Let us know Lhe future o( Formula One racing in this counrry (or next year. It doesn't look good, does it? DENNIS GARCIA Leisure City, FL rights. Now Lowell needs our help! Those o( you in Lhe Sacramento area can cal1 him to see what he needs for support. The rest of us need to send whatever we can to help (inance his campaign. I'm sending$IOO, how about you?
