The first three sections on day one were butterfly chasers. After a brisk eight mile trail ride, competitors came toseetion fOUT, which wasoneoftwo water sections for the day. This ride started smoothly on a jeep road but turned into a single track trail culminating in the "Prospector's Plunge." This old trail dates back to the 1800s when prospectors wound their way up Mount BigChief. The riders wound their wav down, about 900 feet in a half-mile' and the 83cc Mod.
