Allman, Wigington win Perris MX By Frank Thomason PERRIS, CA, JULY 27 The seventh round of the CMCsanctioned Dodge Truck/ S~lZuki Summer Series got underway in 90° temperatures, but that didn't deter DaneWigingLOn and Kevin Allman as the two dominated the 500 and 250cc Pro classes, respectively, on the well-prepared, dust-free Perris track. Colin Karcher also put on a good show with his win in the l25cc Pro class. Moto one saw the 125 and 500cc Pros leave the gate together. Wigington on a Kawasaki won the 500cc Pro class with M-Star-mounted Pete Murray in second; Loren Pochinowski 01'1 a Honda was third. It was Colin Karcher who stole the show and beat everyone lO the checkered £lag aboard his 125 Honda; Doug O'Donnell and Vince Warren finished second and third, respectively. The second molO again saw Wigington take the win for the overall. Pete f 'urray repeated for second and secon overall. Vince Warren was second for second overall, anad Brian Rutledge combined a 4-3 for third. The stan of moto one in the 250cc ProacLion saw Suzuki-mounted Tony Spear pull the holeshot with Kevin Allman right on his reanire. Murray, riding his second of two classes was in third on the M-Star. On lap two, Allman stuffed his way into the lead. Spear, however, got better drive going into the next jump and passed him back. The two diced back and forth before Allman made his pass stick halfway through the third lap and began pulling away. While Allman was out front cruising there was quite a race for second and third_ Murray moved to second as Spear began to fade. Dan Berg moved to fourth, third, and finally into second. Ti Swartz, meanwhile, was putting on a charge and was soon houndingBerg. Swartz put his Yamaha into the runner-up spot near the end of the moto, but it was too late to catch the smooth-riding Allmn. That's how the moto ended with Allman winning, Swartz moving up through tra£Eic for second and Berg third. In the second moto, Allman started on the far side of the gate and powered himself into the lead; Ti Swartz was second. The order was soon a copy of the first moLO. Allman all alone out front with Swartz in second and Dan Berg in third. The order remained the same to the checkered flag with Allman taking a convincing win in the 250cc Pro class. In bOlh motos Boone had a hard time getting around Damele. His secret weapon was a special line through the stutter bumps in which he could double some of them; however, he had to pl'ay a waiting game in hopes that Damele would move outof that line for him. Damele did try a different line, perhaps only once in each moto, but that was all Boone needed. They finished with Boone first and Damele second. ,I I I I I I I I , ISLE of MAN PRINT c/oCycieNew5 P.O. Box 498. Long Beach. CA 90801-0498 I I •I I 55
