EDSMONTON, NY, JULY 13 Hank Stankiewicz and Scott Wol£ersbergermade'a five-hour trip from New Jersey to South Edsmonton to hone their riding skills. lhey heard the terrain. was LOugh and the compelition stiff. Heavy rain the nighl before turned the six-mile-plus loop into a very technical course. The course utilized fI portion of the MX course before lurning into the woods where lighl slippery wooded trails, hills, mud bogs, 'rocks and water awailed lhe ride,rs. The show g<;>l under way aboul 12:30 as riders started in four waves about a minule apart. The Experts were lhe firsl lO go off with Stankiewicz pulling the holeshol. Wolfersberger and Maganos were right on his 'rear fender and holding close. Soon after, Maganos started to fall of[ the pace as Stankiewicz and Wolfers· berger began lO burn up the course. The two traded places all day and were never more than a few seconds aparl. Both riders put on a great show for the spectators as they wound their way around the course. In the end Stankiewicz was able LO hold of[ Wolfersberger for the overall win. with Wolfersberger only seconds behind. Stankiewicz is a Husqvama support rider, sponsored by Legend Cyc1e/Spe€tro Oils/Scou Goggles/ Malcolm Smith/Aljo Brakes/Boyesen Engineering/Kraus Racing. The two New jersey riders were impressed with the course and praised the club for a well run evenl. In 0-200cc action, Ken E. Young III was making time around the course and LOpped john Danek and Vince ~ . .. . . .. .. ~ Kuckinski for the win and lhird overall. 250ccwinner Leonard Murry also' did a fine job besting Eric Koeller and, Selh Bruce for lhe win taking fourth overall in lhe process. Stanfield stars at Sedalia HS By Merk Grumke New Products SEDALIA, MO, JULY 20 Upon his return of competing in the ISDE Qualifier Series, Jim Stanfield a Husqvarna' support rider, captured the lead off the start al the sixth round of the Missouri Hare Scrambles Championship Series in Sedalia. He managed LO maintain the lead throughout the race despile persistent threats by second overall Tim Newell. Newell was, in turn, relentlessly chased by Ray Mungenast, veteran six-days rider, who finished lhird overall being closely followed by Dale Hulsey. Due to hard-char~ing competiLOrs, series point leader, Rusty Renaud was only able to secure lOth overall afler his late arrival and consequential six-minute delayed starl. Karlan Kastendieck picked up his fourlh 200cc class win with Steve Crews finishing second. Vince Throckmorton won the I25cc class, finishing ninth overall. Bob Caplinger and George Lawson continued their series ballie with Caplinger securing the win, as Lawson dropped from first LO fifth after breaking the pipe on his Can· Am. Perris Cal Classic to Beier By Terry WhyteI PERRIS, CA, JULY 13 Yamaha Support rider Mike Beier clashed with KTM ace Todd Campbell today in the 250cc Pro race at the fifth round of the Yamaha California Classic held on the famed Perri International Track. Beier and Campbell dueled for the LOp posi tion throughout most of both moLOS with Beier finally locking-up the win with two laps remaining in the second mow. Following Beier and CampbelllO the pay window was Kawasaki rider Chris La.nee; Yamaha rider Ty Swartz earned fourth and Suzuki·mounled Luther French rounded out the LOp five. A mechanical failure kept Scott Manning from the leader board in the 250cc Pro class, but the young Yamaha rider .charged back in the Open Pro class to edge ATK pilot Greg Ziuerkopf for the win. Manning and Ziuerkopf traded moto wins with Manning reaching the checkers first in round two. Kawasaki rider Frank Brundage'placed third.
