Knapp By Athie Sander CUBA, NY, JULY 13 DADE CITY, FL, JULY 12 Three days of dismal weather and three rounds of changes to the sections to make them rideable preceeded Cuba, New Chris Bauder and Scott Salkill scored overall wins in their respective classes at the third round of Dade City Raceway's York's first trials, put on by David Karst. The loop started in a creek which usually only has a trickle in it during july but was up eight inches for the start of the event. SeveraL severe cloud bursLs during Lhe event. nOI only blasLed the loop inLO a muddy quagmire, but brought Lhecreek up anoLher six inches. ForLy riders made Lhe Lrip LO Cuba. including winner ?f the Wisconsin National, Ryan Young. , There were 21 seeLions in all, including Expert sections like number 19 which had four monster drops inLo and oUL of a gully wiLh the finish just past some knarly roots. Only,two riders got through this section Ryan and Cecil Hollien. Mike Komer brought 'down his new monoshock Momesa he received jusL three days before and turned in an excellent ride Honda of Crystal River-sponsored Summer Series. Ry'an Goodner stretched his lead at the start of the I 25cc Beginner moto, while the rest of the pack unwrapped after second-place rider Laurie Hampshire went down and caused a traffic jam. Bauder moved up to take over the lead in lap three.. Frank Peters followed him over the finish line in second. Goodner, Scott Eads and Mike Ratcliff rounded out the top five. , Ba uder nailed the holeshot in moto LWO, as Goodner and Hampshire charged side-by-side behind him down the from straight, They battled in the sweeper and Look each other out allowing Bauder LO pull away. Chris Douglas worked his way up to finish second. Robert Proctor, Eads and Ratcliff followed in that order.
