DELMONT, PA, JUNE 28-29
Steel City-regulars Mark Nei·
derhiser and Davey Yezek each
powered to a pair of wins at the
AMAlHonda Youth Regional
Championships at the Delmont circuit. Yezek's 65cc and 85cc 7-11 class
wins were complete as the young
Kawasaki pilot dominated every race
he entered. After scoring a pair of
moto wins in each class, he graciously
sat out of the final moto in the beSt
two-or-three format so that other competitors could advance. Jason Alworth
aoo jason Myers trailed the steady
kham (116) battle at the AMA/Honda
Yezek in the 65cc class. Zya Braun
and Robert Harrison went 2-!1 in the
85cc division.
Neiderhiser's Novice class wins
came at the expense of Kawasaki
rider Randy Miller who was deleted
from the results after proving 10 be
ineligible for C class competition.
Neiderhiser thus moved into the
number one spot in both the 125 and
250cc C classes. The Honda of Irwin
rider looks like a real contender going
into the Championship finals at the
Loretta Lynn Dude Ranch, and he
was trailed hy Bill Penick and Bryan
Jones in the smaller division while
Jason Domenico and Brad Martin
rounded out the top three in the 250cc
class.
West Virginia's Steve Childress was
thought by many to be a shoo-in to
qualify for the finals and although he
was slowed hy some flat tires and
poor starts, Childress came through
with the win in the 85cc 14-15 class.
But (ollowed northerners Steve Bul·
yovski and Jon Levesque in the Modified ranks. Levesque carded another
runner-up spot behind Childress with
Mike Dries, Steve Herman and Bul·
yovski rounding out the top five.
Another lOp contender (or the title
did not fare as well. Shane Siother
was suffering from an extremely pain.
ful wrist injury. His CRI25s were
equipped with a special ATV-type
thumb throttle, but other problems
kept the youngster from making the
grade. And one of those was Joseph
Naurer. He raced his KXs to a first
spot in the Schoolboy Stock dass
with Dries second and John McDea·
viu following. Naurer trailed Keith
Johnson home in Modified action
with McDeaviu again in the third
position.
The85cc 12-1!I racing was scauered
as several different riders found their
way to the top. Class winners were
Scou Sheak in the Stock (fifth in the
Modified) and Chris Carte carded the
Modified class win (third in the Stock).
Ty Wallace and Mike Panko also
fared well, going 2-4 and 4-2, respec·
tively.
