Boyeson snagged the win with a well executed pass in the final lap. Moore had his Honda in second, and Sorenson took third on his Somerset County Suzuki/KTM, Malcomb Smith-sponsored KTM. Coleman had beller luck in the 125 c A class than he did in the 250cc. He moved from eighth to fourth in the first maLO, and from fifth to first in the second for the overall win. Barry Carsten had a consistent 2-3 finish for second. Steve Desiderio was fifth in the first maLO, but made up for it by taking the number two spot in the second. The LOp three brands were Kawasaki, Yamaha and Kawasaki, respectively. Results Scott Graham and Carl Zimmerman traded positions for the number one spot as Rettig was on the move. He displaced four riders for the lead by the third lap. john Sulewski found a fast line around Graham and worked on Zimmerman next. Sulewski seemed to be following Rettig's race plan and passed Zimmerman as well. Rellig's lead was narrowed but never challenged by Sulewski. Rellig had won the overall with a pair of firsts so he sat out the third maLO. Meanwhile Sulewski needed the win to take seccm.d overall as did Zimmerman. Zimmerman took control with Sulewski following in the early part of the third moLO. Sulewski passed on the third lap and moved away'from the field. Zimmerman had to settle for second with Graham following to the finish. 60: 1. Robert Hummer III (Kaw). MINI JR: 1. Danny Marotta (Kaw); 2. Wayne Scott (Han); 3. Anuti StC\ut (Han). MINI SR AM; 1. Kane claims Broome- Tioga MX Hughes wi"s Baylands shootout By Joel Church CENTER LISLE, NY, JUNE 21-22 Riders traveling to the Loretta Lynn's Regional Qualifier found that the Broome-Tioga track· had been changed the week before with the addition of double, triple, and quad jumps. Mark Kane led the fast and furious 250cc A class to a first maLO win on Saturday. When the racing resumed on Sunday, Mike Postlewaite grabbed the 250cc A lead and built some breathing room.· Wade Mathews LOok over second but soon was challenged by Dale Spangler and the Kawasaki. Spangler wasted lillIe time in passing Mathews and charged forward, took the lead from Postlewaite and cruised to the win. Kane had trouble in the first turn and started last, but he charged to an II th-place finish. The third maLO start saw Mark Lachowicz take the lead and never look back. Spangler elected not to ride since only the two best moto scores count and his second and first place finishes looked good. Kane worked his way up through traffic and began closing on Lachowicz but at the finish Kane held second. His second place in the third maLO gave him the overall win with Spangler taking runnerup. Mike jones swept the 125cc ProAm class on his Kawasaki with the only challenge coming from Chris Coleman. Both riders finished first and second in the first two moLOS and neither rode the third mota. Richard Bellora led the third mota with Honda riders jeff McCune and Rick Pinney following in second and third. Pinney began closing on McCune on the last lap, but time ran out for Pinney. Bellora took second overall with his first place in the third mOLO'pushing Coleman back to third. 250cc B Modified rider Eric Rettig won the first maLO on Saturday and came back Sunday todo itagain with his Yamaha. Results By Mike Vancil 'FREMONT, CA, JUNE 25 Duane Hughes powered to the win today in the Veteran Master shootout after settling into a rhythm that was most effective arid least tiring. Chasing Hughes, and getting quite close at times, was the Baylands veteran of many seasons Larry "Berzerko" Baker. Baker finished within a bikelength in the first maLO, but was not quite as strong in the second; finishing third overall was hard-charging Mike Hernandez. In the highly competitive and heavily attended l25cc junior class the first moto results were a little deceiving. Heavy favorite George Heare gotan early lead on his Honda then crashed and rode "detuned" for the remainder of the evening. Rocketship Leo DeAnda didn't quite have enough speed around the course to take the overall. Quickest in the first moto was Paul Turpin, a relative newcomer LO Baylands, on board a Kawasaki from San jose. DeAnda chased him unsuccessfully the whole way. The expected penetration of the vastly improved Kurt Kuhn didn't happen either. He errored badly on the stutter jumps and spent time getting restarted. In the second mota Kuhn asserted himself by getting an excellent start and eventually worked his way around Turpin in the back of the course. Turpin was too tough for the others as he got the overall. Results MINI BO BEG: 1. Jon Peters (Yam); 2. Ricke Olvar (Yam); 3. Bill Sawyer (Yam). MINI BO JR: 1. Jon Nicolaus (Kaw); 2.
