CA 901104 (213) 597-0339 ~" Yamaha-supporl rider Fred Andrews swept both mows of the 250cc/Open/125cc A Pro class at Ohio International Raceway. The better than 80" temperature didn't seem to bother Andrews as he led both motos from the drop of the gate through the checkered. flag. In the first moto, Andrews led the field of 14 riders to the first turn where the battle for second place began between Tim Deutsch and David Hand. Deutsch moved ahead through the second turn followed by Hand, Rick Hammond and Mike Boggia. Andrews held the lead for the entire moto. Honda-mounted Hand slipped past Deutsch after one and a half laps. Deutsch, who was never more than a bike length behind, threatened numerous times to regain second, but followed Hand for the rest of the race. Hammond held onto fourth. Scott Haehn took fifth with Barney Barnett moving into sixth when Boggia dropped to midpack after two laps. In the second moto, Andrews, Hand and Deutsch were again in the top three spots. As Andrews pulled away, Hand and Deutsch battled for second wtih Deutsch taking control on the fourth lap. The Yamaha-mounted Deutsch finished second with Hand close behind. Hammond was again fourth followed by Barnett. Bob Harrington took the overall in the 250cc C class chalking up 2-2 moto finishes to grab the top spot. In the first mota, Harrington grabbed the holeshot with Rick Boepple taking second. Harrington and Boepple pulled to an eight-second lead ahead of Eric Lee, Dennis Wade and John Diezic. As the two front runners battled for the lead, Lee held onto third and Kawasaki-mounted Diezic moved around Wade into fourth. With a half lap to go, Boepple passed Harrington on the back wood section of the track to lead the group of 23 riders to the checkered flag. In the second moto, the lead changed four times before the beginning of the third lap. Harrington, Lee and Boepple rode 1-2-3 through the first turn with Boepple passing Harrington before half of the lap was over. Lee, however, moved around Boepple to end the first lap. Boepple regained the lead after one and a third laps with Harrington passing Lee for second. Harrington grabbed the lead again to start the third lap. Knapp, who had been closing in on the three front runners, passed Lee and Boepple. Knapp continued his move to the front and passed Harrington to start the final lap. Knapp held on for the win with Harrington and Boepple following. Harrington's two second moto finishes gave him the overall followed by Boepple. Results PEE WEE: 1. Karl Scott (Vam): 2. L.azor, Cliff take APE Spdwy wins By Todd Kroh GREENE, NY, JUNE 21 Three riders, George Lazor, Pat Cliff and Greg Didas make the trek each week from the Rochester, New York area to Greene and two-third of that Rochester Connection swept to wins in three of the four main events last week at Action Park East. Cliff flagged down the Handicap and Division Two mains while George Lazor ran off with the Division One tide. In addition, Jawa machines circled the track with the checkered flag in each of the four main events. That is the first time that one bike manufacturer has accomplished this feat this season. Lazor arrived with his brand new Jawa just barely out of the crate and broke it in with his first main event win since opening night. It was a veterans-only main with Colorado's Ken Pieper on the inside riding a fresh out of the box Godden and the renewed Ted Fey in the number two spot. Lazor drew the third position with last week's winner Bruce Nelson on the outside. Lazor shot out of the hole to the first turn with Nelson sliding in behind him. Nelson made continual bids on each corner, but could not get the needed wheel inside of 'Lazorbeam.' A small miscue by Nelson in turn two of the third circuit sealed Lazor's victory. Ken Pieper held down third place with Ted Fey fourth. Pat Cliff, riding the Jawa Lazor rode' last season, became the second person in two weeks to capture a double win and in doing so became the seventh different winner of the Handicap main in seven weeks of racing. The Robinson Cycle Salessponsored Cliff riding 0(( the zero yard line in Handicap racing dusted the competition winning both his
