Oster wild at WoodlandMX By Derryl Anderson WOODLAND, WA, APR. 19 Kawasaki-mounted Steve Oster took home a large share of the purse as he went I-I in the 250cc Pro class of the motocross held at Woodland's Motocross Park. Oster was flying high and' styling in practice but when the races started he got serious and ran away from the competition. In the first moLO, Oster got the whole shot ahead of Doug Lange, Robert Hansen, Ted DeVol and Steve Lund. On lap two DeVol and Lund battled back-and-fonh before Lund finally made a pass stick. Meanwhile, Oster threw in a onehander while going over the big infield jump. By lap three Oster had an SO-yard lead over Lange, who had 40 yards on the others. For three laps nothing changed, then Hansen fell and q uickly restarted, but the others had time to get by, leaving Hansen in the rear. . Oster lapped Hansen and then he slowed down LO say hi to some fans. Evidently he wasn't 100% serious since his main competition, Larry Ward, went to the Las Vegas National. At the checkered £lag it was Oster, Lange, Lund, DeVol and Hansen. In the second and final moto Lange got the scratch followed by Oster, Hansen, Lund' and DeVol. Oster, who lists his sponsors as Hi-Point/ ND/Scott and Marushin, took three laps LO get by Lange. Everyone strung out 40-1 00 yards as the order remained the same right to the finish. Oster showed great form as he went over the big jump for the last time. The Over The Hill class ran three moLOS since they're getting ready for the summer National. In moto one it was Dave Eaking/Honda getting the holeshot ahead of Randy Skiver, Tim Sullivan, Paul Stuen, Ron Oleson, and the others. The A, B and C Classes took off at staggered starts. The 24 riders rode in the same moto but .were scored separately by class. On the first lap, Eaking fell down but was up and running quickly. Eakin chased Skiver, the ex-flat tracker and road racer for a couple laps before he got within striking distance. Meanwhile Stuen dropped back LO eighth. On lap three Eaking moved past Skiver, Oleson moved up a position and Brian Hall was looking good. With a lap to go Eaking almost lost the front end as he entered the scrambles section of the track. He gassed it enough to save it and continued on with 40-yard lead over Skiver who had 20 yards over Sullivan, who had 90 yards over the rest of the pack. At the checkered flag it was Eakin, Skiver, Sullivan, Oleson, Ron Kent, Hertman, Stuen, Hall and the others. Taking the early lead in moto two was Skiver followed by Stuen, Eakin, Sullivan and the others. Within a lap Eakin charged into the lead and never looked back. Sullivan got past Skiver in lap two and Mel Bowman also moved up with the lead group. The leaders strung out with very little changes taking place. At the finish it was Eakin, Sullivan, Skiver, Stuen, Hertrnan, Olseson, Marc Wareham, KEVI"S CYCLE RIICI"G SUPPLY 1Jf.i -l1li.
