and Kessler made his move on the last
turn to pull down the first place moto
finish. Carrino was second with McMillen third. .
The final 30-minute moLO saw
Carrino pull down the holeshot. Following ever-so-clo ely were Kessler,
McMillen and Carsten. Ke sler almot
passed Carrino on the VIP Staircase;
going over the tabletop, Kessler tried
again to make a pass, but it didn't
stick. Going over the Maroney Mogul
another attempt but Carrino, had his
Honda singing and was dialed in on
the track. Halfway through the moto
Kessler passed Carrino just before the
tabletop and opened a lead. McMillen
sliced into second position. Tha t order
remained until the final lap when
Carrino moved into second but could
not gain (irst back. The moto and
overall finish 'read Kessler, Carrino
and Carsten.
GearlSpectro/Marushin/Carlisle
Tire-sponsored, Yamaha-mounted
John Driscoll grabbed the holeshot
and the lead in the beginning of the
first moto for the 250cc Expert class.
Carrino was not far behind and Gearl
VIP-sponsored Jerry Seip was third.
Rocketing around the track, Carrino
got by Driscoll in the first turn section of the track. O'Neal-sponsored
Jim Kapitan came from a bad start to
make his moves and got by Se.ip to
take over third, then started to battle
it out with Driscoll [or second. Carrino still held onto first. In the back
section o[ the track Kapitan passed
Driscoll. The finish went to Carrino,
Kapitan and Driscoll.
In the final moto, Carrino took the
early lead, but Mike Moore came up
through the pack to pass Carrino and
gain the lead. Seip piloted through
the pack and settled into a comfortable third. By the last lap Turner
gained second. The moto finish was
Moore, Turner and Carrino but the
overall finish was Carrino, Seip and
Turner.

In the third and final moto it was
Skiver leading Wareham, Stuen, Oleson, and the rest of the pack. Eakin
did not make the start of this moto.
The leaders battled for several laps
before everyone strung out. The first
seven positions stayed the same clear
to the flag. The order went Skiver,
Stuen, Oleson, Mike Marshall, Wareham, Keith Bomen, Gary Eaves and
the others.

Local rider Rich Carrino challenged
on his Gear Racewear/VIP-sponsored
Honda, but finished second.
On the first lap Carrino had a good
lead over Kessler, who was in fifth
place, with Honda pilot Kurt McMillen second, Yamaha-mounted
Barry Carsten third and Mark Lachowicz fourth. Kessler made his moves
and passed Lachowicz at the finish
line on the second lap, and flew pass
Carsten down the Hagpole straight.
Meanwhile, Carrino never looked
back as he kept his lead. Ed Bao.

Kawasaki, chased down Lachowicz
and got past in the back section of the
track.
Kessler reeled in McMillen in the
YI07 rockers to gain second position.
Carrino was still holding onto the
lead but started to feel Kessler at his
back door. Kessler made a pass on
Carrino over the rockers but couldn'tmake it stick. He did get by on the
first turn but Carrino would not let
off the throttle and slid pass Kessler.
Kessler and Carrino went side-byside over the tabletop on the final lap
