Riding with a flat tire throughout the race was Super Senior rider Warner Wilbourn. Wilbourn's handicap did not seem to bother him in the leastas he turned in a class winning ride. Langness smokes OTHG at DeAnza By Glenn Worrall The 250cc Pros also featured furious racing and constant changes. Eric Sackett, who was on the gas all day,streaked to the front of his class to start the first moto. But in the end it was scrappy Pat S'hields with tlle first moto win. Shields exploded to holeshot the second moto, but Sackett motored right on by. Johner Kight, back on the track after a long layoff, was also jousting for the lead. Sackett looked quick, but the Motorcycle Tire Center/Dixie Kawasaki-sponsored rider couldn't stay on two wheels for any length of time, and crashed two or three times during the moto. This opened the door for Scott U nderwood. Underwood, racing on an older model M-Star, wasted no time in winning the mota and wrapping up , the 250cc Pro title. Shields finished in second with Kight third and Sackett fourth. Honda of Las Vegas' Chris Trickle popped the holeshot in race two ahead of Frank Singer and Hodge. Trickle held the throttle open and continued to lead but Singer, Pacino and Flores fell in behind him to form a four-man freight train for the lead. On the white £lag lap, Flores had battled past Pocino for third place. The tOP four positions stayed the same for the rest of the race. Overall results put Flores in first, Singer second, Pacino in third. Results PEE WEE CVC NOV: 1. Randy Finch: 2. Russel Pearson; 3. Billv Eister. PEE WEE CVC INT: 1. Jason Partridge; 2. John Meng. Rogers rolls at 8all Ground HS By Ken Kelly BALL GROUND, GA, MAR. 23 Joe Rogers rode his Honda to the overall victory and 250cc A class win at Ball Ground Hare Scrambles. Rogers won by the narrow margin of four seconds over 200cc A class rider Michael Grizzle. Following Rogers in the 250cc A class results was Brett Burkitt. Rounding out the top three was Robert Henderson. The Open A class saw Keith Rider in the lead on the final lap, overtaking Mack Stafford, for tOP honors. Stafford followed closely to claim second with third going to David Massey. Grizzle had a super ride in the 200cc A class as he led every lap. Following in second was motocrosser Tony Lee. SUNNYMEAD, CA, MAR. 23 Honda rider Mike Langness claimed the Over The Hill Gang Amateur victory at DeAnza Cycle Park this weekend after two moto-Iong dogfights with Yamaha-mounted Jerry Johnson and Carlos Marin (Hon). It was Johnson leading the charge to the tOP of the hill as the first moLO got underway, but his lead was short-Lived after he killed the mOLOr in turn one scattering riders in every direction. ATKmounted Randy Klassen appeared in the lead in turn twO, ahead of Greg St. Clair (KTM) and Langness. Klassen slowed allowing St. Clair LO take the lead, followed by Langness and Johnson, who quickly recovered after his first turn mistake. Langness roosted past the KTM rider to take the lead at the half way stage with. Johnson close on his tail. Johnson made his move with one lap remaining LO take the checkered with Langness only inches behind in second. Klassen traded his ATK for his dad's Honda LO grab me second-moLO holeshot with St. Clair, Langness and Honda pilot Marin coming up fast after a slow start. Marin blasted his way into second place and battled fiercely with Langness thoughout the molO, but a determined Langness managed to hold off me challenge and was rewarded with the overall vicLOry ahead of Marin and third overall St. Clair. lronman Ron Ryer pushed his Yamaha to win the Expert class after competing in four molOS. David Hassel edged out SCOtt Rissman and Greg Humber (Yam) in turn one of the first moLO. Honda ace Marino Bastionell recovered from a slow start and berserked his way into the lead after two laps, with Hassel and Ryer moving past Rissman. Bastionell held off the challenge of Hassel to take the moLO win with Ryer a close third. As they lined up for moLO twO, Bastionell failed LO make the start, and it was Hassel once again nailing the holeshot. Humber closed on Hassel by the end of the lap, allowing Rissman and Ryer to battle for second. As Hassel began LO tire Ryer blasted into the lead and after passing Rissman led LO the flag for the overall win. Hassel posted a 2-2 for second overall with Rissman in third. Results EX: 1.
