Montoya had gotten off to a slow stan, but he had worked his way through the entire field of large displacement bikes until he had the leaders in sight. Litsey took the lead as he and Costa came up on the white flag. A few seconds back, Montoya passed Aquino to take over fourth place. Half a lap later, he slipped past Canet. As the leaders came around for the last time, Litsey took the turn II hairpin lOa fast and slid off the track. Costa went on for the easy victory, followed by Montoya and Canet. Craig conquers Barona Oaks MX By Debbie Higgins RAMONA, CA, MAR. 2 The cool sou them California air gave way to some heated battles at the Barona Oaks Motocross track today. One of the most impressive rides of the day came in the 125cc Open Pro class. Moto one found Mike Craig (Yam) showing his skills as the top 125cc rider. The second molO found Craig with a major threat by Furuya. This time it was no hands-down show for Craig. Furuya's aggressive style kept him side by side with Craig throughout the toughest parts of the track. When the . riders weren't side by side, Furuya was on Craig's rear fender. The riders kept up the pace the entire race, but Furuya never was able lO slip by the smooth concentration of Craig. The checkered flag found Craig first, Furuya second. Meanwhile, a tough battle was going on for the coveted third spot by Brian Belew (Hon) and Cory Falter (Kaw). Falter won the position.
