Rusty Rust kept h is dad (a n o ld -time race fa n ) happy with a fourth over Kenni e McGrath. J immie Cl ay had a trophy spo t working before he cras hed out, a nd Er ic Bostrom (hi s dad is Da ve th e 1968Cal State TT cham p) topped th e 60cc portion over Case y Johnso n. Russ Sco tt led all la ps of the 250cc Ama teur main, while Ala n Carlso n worked around Alex Chella a nd Geoff Woods for the second . Woods and Sam Nava had a ba ttl e for the th ird wi th th e RM rider getting the better part and Dave Minjares co m ing up wi th th e fina l trophy spot in a good effor t after ma ny months off th e tour. Dave Woods led o ut Dashi ell in th e 250cc Pro show with lots of bashing goi ng o n a bo u t half wa y through th e first lap . Dashiell ex p lai ned, " I hi t Woods pretty ha rd in o ne corner a nd sta lled my bik e, but I got it from beh ind ha rd enoug h to get restarted a nd ou t of th e mess. " And a mess it was as Brett Cahor s a nd J erome H eiberger go t tangled with Rod Sm ith and Ala n Berl u ri ca us ing qu ite a pi le-up.
