Sam Bast made event 19 the p ivo ta l round as far as runaw ays were co n cerned w ith a good gate and hold-tern lin e th at p revented Delacy an d St eve Martin fro m any pass a ttempts. Bast rides very well , an d co m bine th at with th e a tt ributes o f a Chicago Bear fullback and yo u ha ve a race winner. Brown brought th e j aw a to th e fore with a big w in . while C urry worked a ro u nd Zeissler for a spot in th e main . Rocky Robinson took over for event 21, with Bart Bast com ing from behind to win big time a t th e checkered, much to the adulation of th e crowd . Orlandi came in third, putting him in a tie for the fin a l cham p io ns h ip spot with Brown, while Miek Parso n s ca p p ed th e night with a grea t w in in event 20 but no cha nce for a transfer. L arry Ward (Tea m Green /HiPoint/Scott USA/ Ka l G ard/HRP/ DM C/ Ted DeVol ) led th e 125cc Pro cla ss o u t o f th e ch u te in moto o ne with Hall poking a t hi s heel s for three lap s before he took the lead . Ward , not willing to g ive up, hun g in tight to retak e th e top spo t for good with two laps left. In the third -p lac e battle, J ohn Sowards (Kaw ) held off th e charge s of Scott Steffy (Yamaha S u p p o rt / G &S Motors/Lynnwood Yamaha ) unti l th e middle of the race. T he Open Pros rode behind th e 125s, and T yler wa s in th e lead every lap o f both mot os. Jim Anderson (Ya m) rode seco nd a ll th e way in th e first race but didn 't sta rt th e seco nd . Rob Bu rkhart (Yam) was seco nd overa ll with 3-2 fin ish es. Anderso n got to th e front fir st in th e 250cc P ro s, but o vershot a berm a nd killed his engin e. Then, still a t the back o f th e bunch , he tangled with Bu rkh a rt and became a spec ta to r for th e day. Ty ler took o ver th e duty of lead m an , followed by Doug Lange (Beaverton Yamaha/MX Fox/ Marushin ) and T roy Stewa rt (Yama ha East/M ot orcycle Tire & Wheel ). H all was in th e back o n th e fir st loop but m oved up quickl y to tak e a n undi spur edIead o n th e th ird lap .
