Reiman (Ya m) was a lso a double winner, since he won all four mot os in th e I25cc a nd 250cc B cla sses. Brad Elli s (H on) and Bill Nelson (H o n) gave ch ase to Reiman in th e 250cc B class ,' trad ing p lace an d sho w posi tions. Sixbery then widened hi s lead up , allowing for a co m forta ble cruise to th e c heckered flag. Sixbery then repeated h is efforts in th e 250cc Expert ro u nd, first foll owin g lea der Brett Duncan, then takin g the lead on la p three all the way to th e finish. . At the start o f th e Vet' s combined class event, Sixbery (Yam) took th e lead over O 'Neal USA-backed Da n n y Sanchez (Ho n) on th e opening lap. By lap two, however, Sixbery pulled out th e stops a nd cut loose into a n unassailable lead, which was maintained all the wa y to the Ijnish line. Sanchez fini shed secon d a nd first Vet Open Expert: third overall and second Vet Open Expert was Lars Larsson. Finishing first 125cc Vet Expert was Vern H eth (Ya m) . . In Vet Am ateur a ct ion, Witco Cycle's Mike H ixson (Yam) led the pack o n th e first lap. But soo n af ter tha t, Dean Dlou ghy (Hon) had moved up to ch a lle nge Hixson for th e lead . By la p three, Dloughy had worked h is wa y into th e lead to cla im th e class win. H ixson was second, a n d Brad Denham (Hon ) was third. First Vet Novice wa s Ken R icha rds: first Vet Beginner was C.W . Mcintosh. Sixbery went o n to win the 250cc Expert after having to follow Dunca n on th e fir st lap. A co up le of la ps lat er, Sixbery was lead ing; he cla imed th e win a t the fini sh . Duncan was second a nd Randy Norm an was third. First 250cc Amateur wa s Ed T yynismas (Suz), fo llowed by Frank Ruff (KT M): Mark Van scourt was th ird. Earlier in the da y, the co m bined Senior cla ss saw Larsson a nd Ed Duncan (H on) running o ne-two for th e fir st five laps of th e rac e. On lap six, Larsson got on th e gas a nd pulled away from Duncan for th e win . Jim Ha yes won the Senior Ex pert class, foll owed by W.T. Pattison, with Cliv e Ch effin s third. Mi cha el Ro b bin s claimed first in th e Senior Novi ces, • with Chuck G ilmore second. In th e co m bined 80cc event, Amateur rider Will is Drak e (Ya m) made h is wa y a ro u nd th e co urse, leading fell ow Am ateur Brian Sanch ez (Kaw), Sanch ez tra iled Drake for th e next four laps, th en sta rted losing ground, giving thewin to Drak e. In the No vice class, Chris Holmes (Ya m) held th e lead a ll th e wa v to the chec kered. Second was Scott H ainsworth (Kaw); third was Mike Akin (Yam) . Scott Bag shaw (Yam) rode a -good ra ce to win th e Beg in ner class : second was J oh n Campbell (H on) . Th e last race of the day was th e Open cla ss event. Leading the firs t lap was Kno bby Shop Interna tion al 's Tony Wa nket (Hon) , fo llowed by Pete's Ra cin g/ Tf'-spo nsored Randy Norman: holding down thi rd was Craig Adams (Hon) , Norma n ra n clos e behind Wan ket, waiting for the leader to make a mistake. O n lap four, Wanket blew it in a corner, allowing no t only Norman to roost by, but Adams as well. Norman then started bui lding up a lead on Adams, and a t the finish line Norman had at least 100 yards on the Honda-mounted rider. Adams was second , and Wa nket rolled in for third.
