Healey won both 125cc and 250cc Pro classes. Healey hot at DeAnzaMX By Nate Rauba SUNNY MEAD, CA , APR. 14 Suzuki support rider Mike Healey cleaned up the Pro classes in today's DeAnza Racing Club MX . Healey posted a 38 2- lscore to take the I25cc overall , and in the 250cc Pro di vision he came from behind in both motos to take the victory. The first 125cc rnoto belonged to Team Tarnrn 's Mike Beier as he grabbed the holeshot and quickly moved away from Doug Dubach (Race Tech Kaw ) and Healey. A few laps into the race, Beier held about five seconds over second place Dubach, who began to have problems with his rear brake. Healey was on Dubach 's tail and took advantage of his problem by moving to second; Dubach stopped a few laps later to adjust his brake and dropped to the back of the pack. Kawasaki-mounted Lance Rieman took over third. but later in the moto was passed by a hard-charging Mike Brown (Innovation Sports Kaw). Beier moved out to take a comfortable win, despite a broken shock spring, over Healey. After getting his brake problem worked out, Dubach mounted a charge that carried him to within a bikelength of Brown at the finish . Dubach nabbed the holeshot at th e start of the second moto ahead of Healey and Brown. Beier hit the gate and got a bad start, but by the end of lap one had passed Brown for th ird. For the next eight laps Healey and Beier chased Dubach with no change in positions. Then ~n the 10th lap. . Healey made his move and stuffed Dubach in a tight turn, causing Dubach to bail over the berm. Beier then moved in on ' H ealey but couldn't keep upthe pressure, allowing Healey to go on to take the win by severa l seconds. Beier was second overall, and Brown finished the moto third to nail the same overall position . In the first 250cc Pro moto, Healey was last off the start, but he moved up to fifth by the end of the first lap. A few lapslater he took the lead, then went on to take the win ahead of T erry Fowler. Healey got a no th er bad start in th e second rnoto and spent half th e race moving up to second. By th e time he got there. Matt Tedder (Mo to -X Fox Hon ) had already devel oped a good lead; H ealey reeled him in a nd took th e .lead .on lap nine of th e 15-lap a ffa ir. Open class winner Scott Johnson (KSIISimpson Hon) led the 125s through the first turn in moto one, but Chuck Hart (Suzuki Country ) took the lead on the first lap. With just over a lap to go, Kell reclaimed first in the hills, then held Rieman off for the remainder of the race to take a . narrow win. Holmes maintained third, and Hart worked back up to fourth to claim second overall. Jacob Swain (Rincon Kawasaki/ Pj l z Hi-Poirrt) and Mike Metzger (Bill's Pipes Kaw) looked like they would be in fora tough battle with each otehr in the Mini Beginner 12 & Under class, but unfortunatel y the showdown was cut short in each moto. Swain led the start of th e first . motowith Metzger on hi s tail. On lap two, Swain doubled a set of jumps, but Metzger, not wanting to fall behind, tried the same thing, came up a little short and crashed.
