Yamaha rider Ed Amet dominated the 250cc Pro class at CR C MX at Indian
Dunes on Sunday. William Surratt took second.
16
Association's mudfest in Eugene. Hart
went 2-1 to top the field while Tim
Michlitsch took the 250cc and Open
.Pro classes.
Kawasaki rider Jeff Landrum rode
quite impressively en route to topping the first incredibly soupy l25cc
Intermediate moto. Thirteen riders,
led by KX80-mounted Jeff Daily
(Team Green Kaw) gave chase after
Landrum. 'Daily rode sensationally
on his green screamer and finished
the moto in second ahead of Yamahamounted Dennis Stewart and Mark
Slipp (Yam).
Moto two saw Stewart slide into a
sloppy lead while Daily was doing an
excellent job of holding back Landrum and Kawasaki~riderClint Washburn. Daily closed in on Stewart and
the duo battled to the finish, with
Stewart getting the nod and a ~-l
overall to beat Daily (2-2) and Landrum (I-~), who settled for a disappointing third overall.
Michlitseh (Yam Support/Malcolm
Smith/Yam) flew into turn oneat the
start of the first 250cc Pro moto while
Jere Meeker and Steve Hiersche chased
him around the sticky track. Michlitch rode easy, unaware that Meeker
had sliced his lead from 20 seconds to
a mere wheel length - they finished
that close at the flag.
Hiersche enjoyed a short-lived lead
in the second go-'round but was
quickly devoured by Michlitsch.
Michlitsch pulled away by 25 seconds
to grab the overall with I-I tally.
Cagiva-sponsored Meeker got around
Hiersche for a 2-2 second overall.
Local riders Rick Gunderson (Yam)
and Joe Spangler (Suz) led the first
125cc Pro contest, but positiom
changed when Gunderson stalled in
the slop, allowing Spangler to take
the lead. Then Spangler gotput'of
shape and put Kenn Olson (Kaw),
Hart (Kaw) and..oary Beyer (Kaw)
into the front-running positions.
Spangler mounted a charge to the
front, as did Hart, and the two clOsed
in on Olson. Spangler passed Hart to
set up an Olson/Spangler battle until
Spangler stalled again and gave Olson
the win over Hart. Spangler took
third over Beyer and Gunderson.
. Spangler came back to lead moto
two, but let Hart past to make the
order Hart, Gunderson, Olson and
Beyer. Spangler came from way back
to lead once again, but fate struck a
blow on the local hero which put
Hart and Gunderson into the 1-2
positions. Gunderson did all hetould
at taking the lead from Hart, but the
Sun Products,iKawasaki Support rider
Hart got the overall with a 2-1 over
Olson (1-4) and Spangler (~-~).
Yamaha YZ490-mounted Michlitsch complemented his 250cc Pro
wins with an impressive victory in
thefirstOpen Pro contest. Michlitsch
put a quarter lap on second-place
Hart (Suz) and the duel for third
between Richard Earle (Hon) and
Alan Hinkley (Hon). The nod went
Earle's way for the position while
Michlitsch breezed toan easy win and
Hart a second-place finish.
Earle got the holeshot in the'second
moto and rode smoothly until the
second lap when a bobble put Michlitsch into the lead and dropped the
veteran Pro to third. Hart used Earle's
misfortune to talin turn immediately following. Wfth Fertschnider the over-
all winner, second went to Tony.
Mercier.

Fishers, Adams
storm Oregon
short track
Byelay Ught
CORVALLIS, OR, NOV. 17
The Fisher family made their
drive from northern Oregon to
Benton County Fairgrounds in
Corvallis payoff by cleaningup three classes at round two of the
Oregon Indoor series. The elder Fisher, Ryan, took the 500cc Pro main
event while I~-year-old Rex won both
the 250cc and Open A main events.
AMA Expert Ron Adams' outrode
Ryan to top a 20-lap 250cc Pro main.
Adams rode smoothly and consistenly en route to topping the 250cc
Pro heat raceand the three-lap trophy
dash on the George Adams Cycle
Supply Bultaco Astro. Adams sat the
pole for the main and after getting
the holeshot, had Fisher stuck to his
rear fender. Fisher rode Adams' rear
wheel.for the entire race, and Adams
took the win and top payoff. Motocross amateur Pat Munyon (Bul) rode
well enough to finish the race in
third quite a distance behind Adams
and Fisher.
Rex Fisher led Steve Lorraine
(Hon),MunyonandGerryOtto(Yam)
on the opening lap of 250cc A
sportsman action, Adams carved his
way through heavy first-lap tra£fic
after a bad start and ran mid-pack in
the 10-rider main. Polesitter Munyon
won the fastest heat race but in the
main, fell back to battle Otto, Tricia
Lyons (Yam) and Don Davidson for
the final trophy spot. Fisher pulled
away in convincing style and took an
easy win ahead of Lorraine and Otto.
Cave junction's Bob Ingle made
the longest trek, coming some 250
miles to top his heat race, but was
outrode in the three-lap trophy dash
and the 10-lap Open A sportsman
firtaJ. Rex Fisher flew into the lead on
a machine the diminuti ve rider could
barely touch the ground on while
Ingle, Karey Krahel (Yam ~60) and
Tim Dickets (Hon 500) shuffled for
position. Fisher rode in first from
start to finish for another main event
win, with Ingle second.
A 20-lap Open Pro main was the
highlight of the evening, and the
four fast AMA Pros that sat on row
one were not going to disapPoint the
spectators. Fast heat winner Mike
Huffman sat the pole for the race on
