Two turns later, Anderson £Jew past ZefEe1 on the downhill jump. It wasn't Ze£fe1's day, as he soon crashed, letting Brian Custy and Carl Fritzsche past. At the start of lap three, Custy overtook Anderson for the lead. Then, in an attempt to regain the lead, Anderson launched off the big uphill jump and landed right on top of Custy. Both bikes and riders wel1ldown in a spectacular crash. Fritzsche dodged the wreck Eor the lead, with second place going to John Harrison, who was trailed by Barry Carson. Carson soon passed Harrison and began reeling-in Fritzsche, who had a substantial lead. Four laps later, Carson passed Fritzsche over the uphill jump and roared off LO an easy victory.
