Rose Bowl racing always starts one hour earlier than usual with the stan gate dropping at 7 p.m. • 56 Superstars and Hot Shoes Ride the Superbowl A full field of professional champions, factory teams and privateers will compete for the coveted checkered nag at the MILLER SUPERBOWL OF MOTOCROSS Saturday night. WRANGLERSUPERCROSS SERIES points leader, Johnny 0' Mara, who won the season opener' at Anaheim is a favorite for the Rose Bow I. 0' Mara boasts wins in Atlanta, Dallas and Pontiac, as well as the Wrangler Dash in Seattle. He plans to ride his red 250cc Honda to victory again at the Rose Bowl. Honda teammates, Bob "Hurricane" Hannah, Ron Lechien and defending 1983 Supercross Champion David "The Bandit" Bailey will also be going for SuperbowI honors at this Insport Tour Event. David needs to win the Rose Bowl to narrow the points spread. After his ve.ry first stadium race win at Seattle this year, second-place point holder, Team Kawasaki's Jeff Ward is gunning to close the gap on O'Mara. Ward has been engaged in a season-long duel with Team Yamaha's Rick Johnson. Bailey has held steadfast in rourth position through- out the first haH of the season. Last year's MILLER HIGH LIFE SUPERBOWL OF MOTOCROSS crowd of more than 67,000 fans watched Team Yamaha's popular Broc Glover become the only rider to ever win the prestigious Superbowl three times. The fans want to know: Will Glover be able to win an unpre.cedented fourth time? Team Suzuki's Mark "The Bomber" Barnett is the only other rider in Saturday's line-up to have won the Superbowl twice. Winning at the Rose Bow I will move Barneu into the top five, and he would tie with Glover for three Superbowl wins. See a host of other pros compete -likeTeamTamm'sAian King, Kawasaki's Kent Howerton, "the Rhinestone Cowboy", Suzuki's Scott Burnworth and Yamaha's rookie Keith Bowen. Plus watch your favorite California riders like A.j. Whiting, Jim Tarantino, Rick Ryan and Jim Holley as they attempt to garner a share o[ the spotlight. Improved Track Design The MfLLER HIGH LIFE SUPERBOWL OF MOTOCROSS boasts track improvements which will add to the fans' enjoyment. The more competitive track design reatures wide sweeping turns which allow more passing, faster lap times and tighter racing. The jumps are less radical this year and have long landing areas which will speed up the action. they rocket across the Miller Finish Line. To quicken the pulse o[ both riders and fans, the Superbowl track will again run up 34 rows into the stands at the north end of the Rose Bowl. Riders will jet up the track, s-hoot around the Toyota Tornado, and roar back down toward the Diet Coke Catapult which launches them back into the stadium and toward the awesome Wrangler Sandpit. This Rose Bowl Track could easily be the toughest, most challenging high speed stadium course ever constructed. Remodeled Rose Bowl The Rose Bowl [acility remodeling has been completed. Good news! Fans will find newly constructed restrooms and expanded concession stands. The concessionaire has more and better equipped stands for plenty o[ ice cold Miller High Life. Hopefully the June 2 event won't send the thermometer over 100 degrees like last year. Free Toyota Early Entry passes are now available at your local participating Toyota Dealer. Stop in and pick up FREE Toyota Early Entry Passes for each person in your group. Along with your regular Supercross admission ticket, a Toyota Early Entry Pass lets you in Gate A at 3 p.m. Be the first to see the riders tackle the incredible track during practice and avoid the last minute parking rush. Regular gates open at5 p.m. i[ you do not have a Toyota Early Entry Pass. They Go for the Gold Miller High Lire, Wrangler and Diet Coke have increased their rewards to riders this season. And, the riders go all-out to win the cash. Wrangler pays $500 to the rider with the fastest heat time in the first rour Qualifying Heats. Miller High Lire pays $1,000 to the event winner, who also qualifies ror the Miller Masters Challenge. Diet Coke pays $1,000 to the rider who jumps farthest off the Diet Coke Catapult.
