Honda rider Mike Harwood used the same score, I-I, LO capture the 125cc Pro laurels and KTM/ Suzuki rider Rick Bozarth continued to dominate the Open Pro class on. his Gresham Suzuki KTM with another I-I sweep. Up-and-coming Kurtis Ragstadt made his first appearance in Roseburg and took the Minis by stonn, beating a combined Expert/Intermediate/junior pack. Ragstadt led the over-enthusiastic bunch of miniscule monsters from the drop of the gate. Kawasaki-mounted Darren Clay LOn was LO be Ragstadt's closest competition, while ClayLOn had to fend off Mantey Spaulding and Clint Wash- burn [or Intermediate honors, behind the flying Ragstadt, the Expert winner. Phil Escobar took the junior portion with a I-lover Ryan Huffman and George Millard. The 125cc and Open Pro classes ran combined and had Bozarth blasting out of the staging area on a KTM LO lead Gary Bault and Randy Toreson, both on Hondas. Bault set up Bozarth for a pass and the two then swapped it out left and right on the gruelingcircuil. Bault, the winner of last year's winter series, held off the MX/desert speedster for nine exciting laps, but experienced an untimely DNF on the 10th lap and Bozarth inherited the lead and the win over Toreson. _ The second mota had Bozarth take it all the way to home plate for the overall win over Toresan and firstmaLO I25cc Pro portion winner Harwood. Harwood's smooth riding put the Honda pilot into the money with his I-lover Stan Roberts and Chad Klingbeil. Yamaha/Honda of Roseburg's Keller, Yamaha Support rider Doug Lange and Suzuki-mounted Bozarth led a large pack of 250cc Pros around the hilly, whoop-de-doo lined course on the opening lap of action. Keller was sailing out front, trying to shake off Lange, who is quite a terror in the northern portion of the state, and Bozarth. The duo never let up and Keller was forced inLO some over-hishead riding which sometimes is on the edge of disaster, but has mellowed out with age since stepping off the 125s. Back in the pack rode a three· way battle for third between Rick Gunderson, Keith Nicholson and an out-of-retirement David Riemer. Keller rode absolutely flawlessly, except for brief bobbles and took the win over Lange and Bozarth, who were a close 2-3. Mota two had Keller again clobber the troops from the minute they left the knobby-charring concrete starting pad to the finish. Keller put his Honda through a workout that it will never forget in his vain attempt to fully shake Lange, who took a consistent 2·2 behind Keller.
