Lubricants Blended overall. This situation let Gordy gain on Thompson in the series standings and gives Giffin breathing room going into next week's last event. There are several classes where the leader already has more than a 300point lead; the equal of two wins ahead with one race remaining. Headlining this elite group is Bakersfield's own Brian Peoples the summer sensation of the Mini Juniors. Going into tonight's competition, Peoples held a total 1,860 points fully 800 ahead of second-place Ronnie Rosales. The competition has been intense and fierce, but Peoples has progressed far quicker than the field and stands eighth overall in total points for the series. In tonight's Mini Junior action, Peoples had to contend with second in moto one behind the series fourth place holder, Mike Dawson. Dawson went 1-2 in finishing second on his Foothill Kawasaki KX80 and gained some points to inch closer to Lennie Smith currently in third for the series and that's where Lennie finishei:l tonight. But right in the midst is second series-holder Ronnie Rosales who sat out tonight's go and definitely lost ground to the pursuing Smith and Dawson. In Junior Cycle action Intermediate Doug Huston and Junior John Shaver look very secure in their quest for a series title. Shaver enjoys an almost unbeatable SOO-point lead while Huston is nearly ISO-points ahead. The Pro ranks appear to have only one class sewed up and that is Kelly Pugmire in the 2S0 class. He has a 300-point lead over Russ Wageman, and Russ didn't ride tonight. Gaining some ground to the top was Yamaha's Jim Holley taking first with Pugmire in third, and this definitely moves Holley right up into the fight for second in the series with Wageman and third-place lahrt, both going scoreless tonight. To cap the night's activity, Budman, portrayed by professional stunt-man Dave Disco, performed his flaming leap over several cars, lighting up the night sky and warming up the fans. All in all, just about every one has enjoyed a fantastic series wi th the help of sponsors that incl ude Budweiser, Jones Optical, Robert Bosch Spark Plugs, D.I.D. Chains, Richter Industries, Kal-Gard, Simpson Sports, Mikuni Carburetors, Cycle Am, Works Performance and Van Nuys Yamaha, International Yamaha, and Granada Yamaha. Results PEE WEE: 1.
