Also, with the rising competition in the MX garment industry, corners are being cut to provide a lower initial price. Eddie Coje, owner of Answer Products, asked us to try some of his early vented pants. 'We did and were impressed with the quality of the materials, but felt that there was a comfort problem with the knee cups and the cut of the waist. Eddie called a short time later tbtry again. Answer had made changes i the knee cup design and in the pattern. We were allowed to pick a pair at random from stock. . After wearing the pants for a fair amount of ridi ng miles and putting th,em through the wash a number of rimes, we would have to say that they are holding up very well. We have had no problems at all with the pants, and have found them quite comfortable. Our first time out with the pants mcliJded an extreme river dunking lor test bike photos, and we have used them extensively in the desert. The material is a heavier grade than commonly found today and a high quality elastic is used throughout. The vents really work. When ridi~g, especially while standing, a noticeable breeze cools the wearer's legs. We did find that we needed a size larger than our normal waist size to get a good fit, but other riders said that was not true for them. Our only real complaint was that the .tight dastic in the calves made the pants a little difficult to remove after riding, Our complaints were minimal for the protection they offered (we crashtested them without incident). For the price of $109,95, we feel they are a worthwhile value, since in our experience they last well and clean upeasily. Non-vented models are cheaper.
