Henson, Reynolds show the way at Boise ST By Marty Gregory BOISE, 10, JULY 12 Rickey Henson and Rod Reynolds shared Expert class wins at the Owyhee Motorcycle Club's short track tonight while joel Huskey showed the other riders in both the 250cc and Open B classes how to get around the track. Reynolds took the 250cc race aboard his Carl's Cycle Sales-sponsored Kawasaki with Henson and john Colton in tow. In Open Expert action, Henson stroked his CUSLOm Yamaha thumper, sponsored by Atkinson's Mirror & Glass and AlumaGlass, to the win, leaving Reynolds and Randy Lee to ballie for second and third among the big motors. In the B races, it was all joel Huskey and his Suzukis. Huskey, riding out of Boise's Huskey AuLO Electric & Suzuki, was fast and smooth on the new one-eighth-mile track at Peaceful Cove as he scarfed both 250 and Open wins. In the 250cc division, Huskey had LO hold 0[£ determined charges by Terry Anderson while Larry Cowles had his own battle goi ng with the rest of the pack for third. One of the beller contests of the evening took place in the Micro class and was intensified in the Mini B's. james Cyr and Richie Reynolds (Rod's lillIe brother) were wringing every bit of available powerform their 60cc machines as they dueled in the first race. Reynolds came away with the win in that one, but fell during the second race to leave the class win to Cyr. Both racers then lined up for the Mini B, Cyr aboard a bigger Kawasaki and Reynolds borrowing Troy orris' trick Honda track racer. Reynolds looked impressive, but slid out of contention. Cyr, as it ended up, ran second to Kawasaki-mounted Chad Case. Results PEE WEE: ,. Joson Smith (Yem): 2. Leslie Cook (Yem); 3. Deyid Keiser (Yem). MICRO: ,. Jem.s Cyr (Kew); 2. Ben Jorden (Kew); 3. Green edges Hurst at Castle Rock" By Clay Ught CASTLE ROCK, WA, JULY 16 Rookie Expert Randy Green put his Panther Frames/Simpson/American Honda across the line for the Expert main event win at Castle Rock, beating National number 20 Brad Hurst by a nose. Hurst set a new track record on his KRW/Woodland Honda/Out Front/ Triumph with a lap time of 22.37 seconds, breaking the record he set three weeks ago. Danny Bennett sped away and topped the Junior main event on his Megacycle CamslWheelsport Honda and Robert Horban (Grants Pass Suzuki/Auto Mania/ Light Racing Products) did the same LO win the Novice main. Jeff Harsha and Bennett were calm and collected in the junior main and watched 10 riders jump the gun at the first attempt at gelling off the line. Take two saw Seattle Honda's Chris Fitzhugh grab the lead over Bennett, Duane Gerrard and Otto jorgenson. Harsha quickly overtook three riders Jeff Harsha at Castle Rock. to move inLO second behind Bennett which set up another of a series of exciting races between the two. Harsha has yet to win a main this season, but did it to Bennett in their heat with a last-corner pass, and the 2000 spectators figured he could do the same in the main. Harsha pushed Bennett for 10 laps until Gerrard made a pass on the TT jump. Gerrard then batled with Bennett and Harsha was left LO fend 0[£ Fitzhugh and semi-winner Don Wilson. Bennett held on [or the wi n over Gerrard, Harsha, Fitzhugh and Wilson. The skies got incredibly dark before the tart of the Expert main and once again it was rain versus racing. Luckily it held off long enough for Green to grab the lead over jeff Campbell, Charlie Barkman and Mike ullivan. Green and Campbell were having it out in a battle royale but Green's National experience has paid off as of late and LOnight he was looking for his first win this season at Castle Rock. With Mickey Fay not in attendance, it was nice to see a new face in the winner's circle, but those who watched Hurst come from last to second, wondered who would it be? Hur t and Green fought tooth and nail for two laps and it looked like time would run out for Hurst. Hurst got a good drive out oC the final turn to make his move, but Green took the win by inches. Campbell took a third, a long. way ahead of Barkman, jeff McDaniel, Sullivan and Thomas McCullough, the latter working from II th to finish seventh after fighting ofC Scott Miler and Dana Hansen. .- Results EX: 1.
