George Luther, Open Expert, followed Larsson in second, but by the fourth lap Bob Maynard, Open Expert, had made his way up and overtook Luther for second. As the checkered nag waved the end of another race and another race day, La rsso n took home his seco nd overa ll victory for the day . Maynard took second overall for the day as he was behind Larsson across th e fi nish. Cable triples at Ascot By Tom Corley GARDENA, CA , MAY 18 T onig h t Craig Cablejoined an elite group of riders who have won a ll three P ro classes a t the Continental Motosports Club's Ascot Pa rk motocross. Ro n Turner and Todd Peterson performed this feat in past seasons, but they have been Pros for many years . Cable is relatively new in the Pro class and only has two years under his belt. Supporting Cable for this 1983 season are Paci fic Coast Honda, Kal.G a rd , Miller Pro d ucts, Roost Factory, Scott Goggles and HPS. It was a Pro points night, as it is every thi rd Wednesday of th e month at Ascot. A substantial increase o f riders was seen in the 500cc Pro class. There were 17 co mpetitors with Cable taking the top gold. Gary Jones was ona Honda , and h e was the runnerupto Ca ble in the lead moto. In th e fina l even t, G len Seneca l was the to p rider for most of th e tim e till Cable broke by. Senecal returned to the p rogram on a Honda for O ran ge Honda. Two firsts gave Cable the victory. 'R uss Wageman was goi ng for the 125 a n d 250cc Pro class wi ns, bu t h is plans were cut short by Cable. Wagema n topped the 250cc class in the first moto, leading Cable. Jeff Jen nings a nd Ron Turner are two lon g time Pro ri ders in SoCal, and they had to fo llo w the newcomer Cable in the final mota. The 2-1 tally belon ging to Cable took the top honors. T h e l25cc Pro event was th e most exci ti ng Pro race as the top ri ders tangled, with Cable avoiding the con fusion 10 take th e wi n.
