Well, J ace not on ly went wire to wire in both 125cc Amateur mOlOS, bu t was turning identical lap times to the lead Expert 1251 What the clockwatchers didn 't know is that j ace's dad was holding J ace back after he had opened up a IO -second led on the first lap, If Jace was cru isin g at the 125cc Expert pace, some body shou ld send th e facto ry sco u ts out wh en he make s Expert a nd rea lly turns it on. Pat ao is faster th an any body a t Ka h u ku , evidence of hi s p ar tici pation in th e Trans-Ca l series an d o ther mainland races. Dan e an d, in ' th e Open class, Stu. had no co mpetitio n, on ly riders tryin g to ca tch th eir dust. Bert Uyeda, in th e 125s, managed to win both mot os aga in, but waited till past the halfway po int befor e taking over th e lead for good , In th e first mot o , Dave Pa tton gra bbed th e ho leshot with Bert o n h is ta il on th e seco nd lap. Uyeda mad e hi s move a t the halfway point, but· Patton wouldn 't yield. Then Patton, on the whi te flag lap, crashed in a low-speed corner and Uyeda eased by for th e win. J o n Bratten grabbed the second holeshot andtried to run with it. Uyeda , in seco nd, bumped to third by Galen Vasco ncellos, and Neisha Kahoo p ii pressured Uyeda . Vasconcellos banzaied the inside line on th e downhill whoops to ta ke the lead. Bert finall y go t by Vasconcellos for th e lead to take the overa ll.
