Mark Meredith stol e the show on a borrowed practice bike , but only aft er Chappy Blose ran into some bad luck in the first moto. His bike seized a half a la p aft er he slid by Meredith for th e lead . Steve Patterson motored to a co nsistent 2-3 for second while Todd Kessel took thi rd o verall . In the first rnoto Kessel pulled th e hol eshot, but a broken back brake ca ble sen t h im to the back of th e pa ck. Blose had m oved u p from a m idpa ck start a nd put th e moves o n Mered ith to take th e lead. H is bik e's seizure put him down a nd out for the overall, but th e seco nd moto was his chance to do wh at he wanted to in th e firs t o uting, Mered ith once again gra bbed the lead with Blose hangin g on h is rear fend er. H e kn ew that if Blose passed him for the lead he would still have the o vera ll, so instead of kn ockin g himself o u t to stay ahea d, he wai ted until he was far enoug h ahea d of third place ride r Kessel.
