Worth. After a ll th e qua lifyin g in th e af tern oon, ma in events started with Steve Hogg (H o n ) in tu rn o ne o f the 60cc fin al followed by Cla yto n Hull and Jason Festa van (Kaw). Lap two sa w H ull in front and moving with Ti m Kay bringing up fourth fo llo wed by Greg Teague a nd Scott W illiams: At th e fin ish it was Hull with a tremendous lead fo llowed by Festavan, Hogg, Kay, T eagu e and Williams. Festa van had hardl y caught his breath wh en he ha d to lin e u p for the aocc main a nd made it fir st into turn o ne followed by T race Pelson (Hon) a nd seco nd gen eration racer Will ie McCoy (Yam) , with Bill Richards (H o n) an d Mike Hal e in hot pursu it . As Festavan, Pelson, a nd McCoy left the rest of th e field, Hale passed R ichards a nd set up pursu it of th e lead ers.T he n McCoy fell , leav ing a down- to- the-wire battle between Festavan a nd Pelso n . As th ey lapped the fie ld for th e seco n d tim e, the y had a ' close ba ttl e to ihe finish - Festavan, Pelso n , Ri ch ards, Kay a nd third gen eration racer Scott Kell ey (Suz). Will ie McCoy, not the least p u tdown by h is aocc fall, lin ed up a nd followed Todd Haa s into turn one of the 125cc main . H aas' Yamaha led the first three laps. Mike George, a fter a fall, quickl y got back in to th e ac tio n as McCoy and Haas battled w heel to wheel ahead of the field. H al e hung on to th ird followed by George a nd Toll Luska (Ya m) . Finally, Haa s fell lea vin g McCoy wa y out front follow ed by H al e, George and Luska a t th e fin ish . . The 250cc main wa s a w ho le new bunch with no carryovers. Wh a t the crowd had been really wa it ing for was 12 top not ch Amateur riders lined up from 15 to 29 yea rs o ld. Qu ickest a t th e start was J ames Harrington (Yam ) a nd O kie Brian Isbell (Bu l), but Isbell quickl y took th e lead a t th e end o f la p o ne and it wa s Isbell , H arri ngton , a nd J ack Yost (Yam) . La p three saw Mitch H outon (Bu l) move by Yost into third a nd a ba tt le had begun. H a lfwa y, it was still Isbell in front followed by Ha rr ington and H ouston with Yost in fou rt h.
