Humble L.one Star atARRA Riverside By Lori Tyson RIVERSIDE, CA, MAY 2 Texan Hugh Humble decided that he wanted some California souvenirs, at th e American Road R acing Association 's Silver Cup race at Riverside. Internat ional Ra cewa y, he wen t ou t and won three trophies to take home with him. In Open Four-stroke GP, Hugh was shadowed by Robbie Radel and J im Collins . On lap five Collins was abl e to gra b the lead but cou ldn ' t hold it. Hugh regained th e lead by lap six and decided eno ug h was eno ugh and turned on th e gas. All of a sudden , th er e was a big space between him a nd second place Col lins. Collins, mea nwhile, proceeded to put distance betwee n himself and Radel , and that's the way it finished. Radel took third overall and first 900cc. Humble, on his Bimota Kawasaki, won Open Super Street easily, with I:38.5 lap times. There was a real bat tIe for second between Denny Fryer , Ely SchIess, Robbie Radel and Tom Sharp. By lap seven, Fryer had lengthened his lead , leaving the other three dicing. Radel held third until the last lap when Sharp pulled off an excellent pas s going into tum six and held that spot to place third overall and second 750cc. Steve Shelton and Scott Strehlow had a good race between them , although neither on e placed a t the finish. Humble took his third trophy in Open GP without a struggle. Steward, on his Yamaha-sponsored TZ250J, dueled Tracy Greiger for most of the race until Greiger dropped out, leaving Steward with second overall and first 500cc. In 250cc GP, Steward had a fantas tic race wit h Greiger and took the win with 1.40 lap times. G reiger was mounted on a Barry Elliot -prepped Yamaha. In 750-0pen Box Stock, T erry Statum took the first place tro p hy, bu t the re was some heavy dici ng for second between Trevor Dunne, Steve Gardner and Steve Mallonee, with lots of passing and repassing. But on the last lap, Du nne overcooked it in turn seven and crashed, unhurt. Gardner took second o verall a nd first 75Occ.
