In 200cc Stock. the GPX class . which a lso runs at th e Long Beach Grand Prix. is growing rapidly. a nd 26 ka rts started in this good looking class. Don McDavitt led for most of th e time. but the ra cing was draft city for the fir st five fini sh ers. H artma n showed th e way from the end o f the firs t lap while th ere was much excitement back in th e pack. Lee H atch was running s.o well in h is bug th at even after his m anifold ca me completely off, he drove th e last la p si tti ng up , h olding th e pipe to th e engine wit h a rag, and fin ished fift h. Dave Struss drove ver y hard to beat 34 ot he rs in Piston Valve Light.
