Steve " Wo u nd Too Tight" Wright was entered in the 200cc Stock clas s o n a 175 Tri-Mot o alon g with Pr emier Yamaha 's Gar y Hat zfield.These two went at each other' s throat s with Wright pulling out a half-lap lead by the end o f moro o ne. John Neary on a Honda jumped out ahead of Yam aha-mounted Steve Tally in moto one of 200cc Intermediate. It was Neary who was on th e gas and taking the win with Tall y second. Meanwhile. the battle for the 200cc Expert class lead continued with Hart out in front. H atzfield managed 10 get by Gai an for a shortliv ed seco nd . Gai an go t things together and overtook H atzf ield. As the checkered came o u t, it was Hart. Gaian and Hatzfield. Gaian jumped o u t, in front at the drop of moto two; Hart quickly follo wed with Hatzfield and Tim Hoy in hot pursuit. Gaianseerned 10 hav e worked out the bugs with Ha rt only getting a view o f hi s back the entire moto. This time H art was havin g troub les. Something d idn't sound right, and the way it was popping, it sounded as if th e timing was off. Gaian kept the win for a 2-1 score and first overall with Hart second. Hoy took third as Hatzfield got on his head in a ditch. Wright captured the Stock clas s with a I-I score with Gary Hatzfield second. Neary nailed down the Intermediate class with T all y second. Mark Bogdanavich put in a 2- 1 score o n hi s Honda to to p th e 250cc Junior class toda y. Bogdanavich had no easy tim e. as H onda riders Chuck Hogan a nd Keith Ca lle n were kn ockin g on hi s door. T he lead traded off several tim es, but in the en d it ....'3S Bogdanavich tak in g the win. Ca lle n rode well enoug h (1-2) to capt ure secon d, with H ogan third. Bogdanavich came back from a second pl ace in moro one 10 win rn ot o two for a 2-1 tallv a nd first o vera ll. B'efore th e dro p o f th e 250cc Pro class, Su nda h l made th e comment , " I j ust do n ' t feel righ t, I really do ub t an yth in g will happen today. And I mean banging. By th e end o f rn oto one , Su nda h l got by Sanders with Wright just missin g o u t 10 tak e th ird . Mot o two saw Wri ght a nd Sundah l jump ou t first , fo llowed by Sanders. Wright a nd Su nda hl were putting some moves on eac h o ther, and the crowd loved it . By th e sixth lap Sundahl got by, but so me body forgot to tell Wright th e race was over as he never let up a li ck. Su nda h l h eld first. Wright second and Sanders third.
