Joey ca n holeshot the first corner and make it through th e pack like nobody else ca n. Donnie Cantaloupi pushed Schlag until he finally got by . but Schlag stayed on his tailpipe. Donnie washed out and almost lost it. costing him those precious seconds that let Schl ag take over . The second moto was a repeat of the first with Schlag pulling away . Cantaloupi had bad luck and fell dropping back to fourth but worked his way back to second. H e had clutch problems and his KTM needed all the power he could use for the super sand track . Concord Yamaha's Jerry Brandt took his Yamaha to a good third to break up the KTM effort . We would like to wish Joey Schl ag good lu ck with his new factory ride from KTM . The 250cc Experts saw two Honda riders in the hunt . Bill Fernandez took the lead with Shawn McConn on a Yamaha in hot pursuit. In third place was Larry Wosi ck coming fast. McConn passed Fernandez and with full throttle . Bill made the pass back around "Chicken Coop" corn er . Wosick on his fast Honda was still pushing for second. He passed McConn and the action started on the outside of the spectator corner. Now Wosick had to catch Fernandez. his Honda buddy. As he came around Chicken Coop , Wosick passed on the super jump to put his flying Honda in front . McConn broke up the Honda effort with second overall . The 125cc Experts had Dan Turner come all the way from North Highlands as the rain soaked tracks in Sacto had to cancel. Danny grabbed the holeshot with Mike Preston second and little Ricky Ryan in hot pursuit. Dan kept the 'pace fast. The battle was for second as Ryan pushed Preston. finally passing and setting sail after Turner. Closing ground and the finish near , it looked like Ryan might get close enough to pass. but Turner held on the gas for the win . The second moto also went to Turner with the chase going to Ryan again. The first five riders were all on Suzukis, Results 125 JR: 1. Bin Avery lSuzj ; 2. Todd Mi.c:heIlIVaml. 250 J R: 1.
