Coupe conquer
Argyll grass MX

This weekend's race featured a
new experience for northern
California riders: a naturalterrain grass track complete with
bridges and mud holes. The previous
week's rain storms left this new Argyll
Park motocross track in perfect condition .
In the I25cc Expert class, Dana
Waxham got the holeshot for the first
moto followed by Mike Preston and
Cori Cantaloupi, Preston went down
in the back section and Spoof Pena
moved into second, Mike Johnson into
third. At the end of rnoto one,
Waxham had a strong lea d , Pe na he ld
second and third was taken by Ed
Minton.
Moto number two saw Waxham
ho leshot and win. Dicing for second
p lace was Can taloupi and Minton ,
Minton taking the second and second
overall. Cantaloupi finished third.
Jim Ellis got the holeshot in moto
number one of the 250cc Experts
followed by Jason Lamoureaux and
Chuck AskIand . Ellis slid out in the
back section, and AskIand took the
lead. At the halfway point , Ellis
moved through the pack and was back
in the lead to finish the moto. Second
place went to Jason Lamoureaux
followed by Lance Coleman.
The second moto , Coleman got the
holeshot , Ellis in second, Lamoreaux
in third . Ellis got by Coleman and
stretched his lead till the end.
Coleman finished second with Kimo
Casey third.
Moto number one of the Open
Expert class saw Ellis with the holeshot
followed by Dave Coupe and Dave
Mythen . Coupe took the lead early
after Ellis dropped out with bike
trouble. Brad Emery and Larry
Dashielle fought for the second a nd
third place positions with Emery
taking the second.
The second rnoto, Coupe was again
un beata b le as he pulled the holeshot
and had a commanding lead by the
end. Emery got another second with
Ra nd y Chapman hot on his trail for
third .
