ktuthern CalifornlaoArtzonaoS' Campbell rips at CMMCBarona OaksMX By Rod Eschenburg SAN DIEGO. CA, SEPT. 6 Yamaha-mounted Todd Campbell parlayed four wins in six mows to victories in the Stock Mini Expert and the l05cc Open Mini classes plus a second in the Modifieds at Barona Oaks Raceway. In the Stock Experts, Campbell swept both motos over DC Yamaha rider Paul Denis and Kawasaki Motors Corp. rider Sam Storer. Both Denis and Storer ran 2-2 and !I-!I respectively in a rather pat class. The 105s were a different story. however, as Campbell had to come from behind to squeak out a tie-breaker over Ken Dunlap (Yam) with once again Storer taking the third spot. The Modified Experts were a case of live by the tie-breaker. die by the tiebreaker as Denis came up with the sec· ond moto blitz to down Campbell in a close one. The Intermediate Mini riders staged their own brand of excitement Sunday with II-year-old John Conney (Danny's Machine Yam) going with the 1216 class and coming out on top with a first in the Stocks over Charlie Sampson (Action Fire Yam) and a close second to Yamaha-mounted Steve Stewart in the Modifieds. We had a visitor from Corona in the Novice Minis by the name of Steve Skibel (Yam), and after four torrid motos he had gone four for four and had easily coasted to both the Stock and Modified wins. In both classes second and third places were really wild, with Paul Cortez getting the Stock runner-up spot and Tijuana's Ramon Dominguez squeaking through in the Modifieds. In the Stock 125cc Experts, Yamaha rider Scott Swift took a 2-2 effort to a popular victory as first moto victor Mitch Palmer had trouble in the second go-'round and second moto victor David Hopwood had to scramble to fourth in the first moto after a first lap crash. Hopwood, who has changed to Suzukis, came back for -. a dominating two for two blast in the Modifieds. • CONGRATULATIONS Dick Miller ~ Roger DeCoster ~ Dave Arnold and Team Honda For Winning The ..... 00 0) ..... orld -- ------------ - Results MNCYClE ClASSES STOCK EX: 1.
