ber one place ftnish as the Coca·Colal
KPRI Summer Series came to an end.
Meyer jumped out to an early lead in
the ftrst moto over. Terry Murray and
Joaquin Picazo. Meyer opened his lead
on each lap, leaving the battle for
second between Murray and Picazo.
Murray held about four bikelengths
on Picazo for the ftrst four laps. Picazo
pulled even to dice with Murray throu~h
laps ftve and six until Picazo took over
the lead on lap seven. Meyer ftnished
ftrst with six seconds on Picazo, who
held a small lead over Murray in third.
Meyer .ripped out into the lead
again in the secona moto with Murray
second and Picazo once more in third.
Meyer wasn't taking any chances as he
opened himself a comfortable lead.
Murray wasn't as lucky in second as
Picazo stayed close from the start. By
the sixth lap Picazo closed the gap
with Murray and cut Meyer's lead in
half. Murray and Picazo rode dead
even for the ftrst half of the seventh lap
till Picazo moved out front. Murray
tried sticking his front tire in to pass on
every tum, but Picazo held on. Murray made his last attempt in the last
tum of the ftnal lap, where Picazo
chose the otuside berm and Murray
dashed to the inside. The two riders
charged the ftnish line side by side.
The flag came down ending with the
roar of the crowd and a photo ftnish.
Meyer ftnished ftrst by three seconds
over Picazo, who took second by half a
tire.
Bobby Maupin ftnished ftrst in the
I25ccJunior division one, but came up
short in the Coca·Cola/KPRI Summer

ftrst in division two. Maupin jumped
out to an early lead followed by David
Wyatt, Chris Apodaca, Mark King
and Tiberio Esparza. King and Esparza
started battling for fourth from the
time the gate dropped, but Esparza
took it for goOd on the third lap. Meanwhile, M;lupin was running unchal·
lenged in ftrSt. Wyatt was holding a

third. Apodaca later saw his chance as
he p.assed Wyatt .on the back side of
