riden Roger Garvin and Mike Wolach. Kawasaki·mounted Richard Doe picked up fourth and Chria Mitchell placed fifth on a Honda. The 250cc Intermediate clalS fell to the consistent riding Of Yamaha pilot Greg Winters. Yamaha rider Mark Clark followed Winten to the finish while Bill Harry piclr.ed up third. Eric Conrad finished fourth on a Yamaha and Suzuki rider Pat Weber placed fifth. "Holeshot" Hansen lived up to his nic1r.name at the start of the 250cc Pro final and from there on t~ race was for second place. Yamaha rider Mike Shoemaker got a good start to move into second but several other riders fell, including Juan Benavidez who bailed' on the downlull 'and reportedly separated his shoulder. • Staten, Turner and Martin were an off to a bad start and quiclr.1y moving past slower riders. Martin worked his Yamaha past the Yamaha of Jimmy Ellis to run third and close in on Shoemaker. Shoemalter's fine ride came to an end as his rear wheel destroyed itself on the rough terrain. Turner and Staten, locked in a tough battle for supremacy, displaced Ellis to fifth. Turner finany broke free from Staten and began to rec:l in Martin. With just three laps remaining Turner's rear tire went flat and Staten repassed to claim third at the finish. Suzulr.i rider Rodney Brand piclr.ed up fourth ahead of E1lis, Yamaha's Tim Locey and a sideways • Turner.
