Reactions that were hard· learned on motorcycle seats are entirely inappropriate for three-wheeled travel. Things that will save us from an embarrassing get-off in a panic situation while at the ban of a good din bike will do one .of two things at the ban of a three·wheeler: (1) nothin~, or (2) 50mething funny for your buddies to observe. We learned this at Pismo. There are several basic differences in technique between riding a din bike and piloting a three-wheeler. 1. When making a tum with a three· wheeler, you must let the machine lean out, away from the direction of the tum, 50 that it lifts the inside rear wheel. That's because the rear axle (on all except the Kawasaki) of today's three-wheelen is 501id. No differential effect. The fact that the rear wheels tum together gives the little rascals a very strong tendency toward straight· line movement. The only way to get it to tum is to let the centrifugal force tip it up on the two outside wheels. 2.
