8elfinck, Mosley
top Old Timers'
Saturday outing
By Bob Alloy
ORANGE, CA, NOV. 8
Saddleback's newly designed
track brought some surprises for
25 of us Old Timers. There were
a lot of peaky up and down hill
12
jumps and a few tricky sharp turns to
add to the excitement.
This was a special race promoted by
our President. Larry Escamilla and
Jim Beltinck. Fint and second place
winners in all four classes were ~ven
Hi-Point tires. This was really a great
gift for US and one that we will put to
good use. A very special thank you to
Larry and Jim.
Master c1asser Beltinck was out
there in top form and that is just what
it was from start to first place finish.
An outstanding performance for both
motos. Taking second in moto one was
another excellent rider, Ray Sanchez.
Just promoted to Master, Tom Widick
proved his winning ways with a third
place win. Marvin Olsen took second
place honors in the second moto, and
overall. Marv was followed by Widick,
who wrapped up a third overall.
There was lots and lots of action in
the Expert class. Startirtg the whole
thing off was J.D. Bray, then it was
Dick Mosley who took over and led
things for 12 laps. Boh Berdyck then
stole the lead on lap 13 and held on to
win. Mosley came in with a good

his Husky into third. The second moto
was all Mosley's. No messing around,
Dick just got out there and blasted
away until the big win 15 tough laps
Iater. Af ter h al£ an hour of super
riding Berdyck came in with his welldeserved second. Buzz was in with an·
other third place win.
Bying around with the greatest of
ease, or so it seemed, was Amateur
Asker Lamkjaer. Lamkjaer nicely
wrapped up both moto wins. Another
flier was Bob De Miranda who racked
up both seconds. Manny Dauber, one
who we just don't ~ much of, proved
he still has that special touch and all
that stuff came in third in moto one.
Looking really good out there and
blasting away with third was Bob Klatt
for the second moto.

8reker tops at
SSM/Standard
Crank $J.200 MX
By Terry Whytal
ORANGE, CA, NOV. 8
Kawasaki/Norstar rider Goat
Breker came out to Saddleback
Park with the latest Kawasaki
factory mount and proceeded to
clean house on a tough field of 250cc
Pros. Breker's machine sported watercooling, trick Uni-Trak system and
front disc brake.
Honda rider Jeff Jennings motored
away with the first moto as he opened
up a big lead in the fust three laps.
Breker suffered from a mediocre start
that left him working up through the
pack to finish second. LOP/Yamaha
rider Mark Lawrence slipped into the
number three slot while Clark Jones
picked up founh on his Husky.
Moto two featured another Jennings
hoIeshot but Breker quickly moved into
second and Jennings felt the pressure
and went down. Jennings remounted
in fifth and soon powered back into
second but Breker was first to the
checkers and took the overall victory
over Jennings. Lawrence went home
with the third place money followed by
Yamaha rider Tim Locey, Kawasakimounted Robert Reisinger and Jones.
Yamaha rider "Rocket Rex" Staten
roosted to victory in the Open Pro class
with back-to-back moto wins. Maico
rider Will Harper dueled with Huskymounted Dave Gerig and Yamaha
rider Bob Schulz for the runner· up
position with Schulz deciding the issue
in his favor. Harper picked up third
and Gerig finished fourth.
A.J. Whiting headed the 125cc Pros
as he held off challenges by fellow Yamaha rider Rick Maki and Hondamounted Gary Denton to score 1·2 and
clinch the overall. Second went to
Denton and Yamaha rider Craig
Gormley picked up third.
