Brian Luedke of Atwood looked like the rider to put your money on as he completely dominated the 125cc Juniors in the first moto with a wire·towire win. Pickering held second place early on until a second-lap spill put him in fourth behind Bart Weaver and Kurt Ross. He recovered and moved by Ross on the next lap, but couldn't work past Weaver, much less a "long gone" Luedke. Weaver took the start of the second molO over Luedke and Pickering. Weaver had 10 be feeling the pressure of having Luedke trailing, but was quickly relieved of it when Luedke fell. then got up to just cruise around the remaining laps with a flat tire. Mastering the holeshots in the 250cc Seniors was Yamaha rider Kevin Wagoner of Jennings. who rolled on to the overall win. J.D. Sanderson and Dan Hoover played second and third fiddles to Wagoner through the first turn, but Sanderson slipped by for the lead on the opening lap and rode on 10 the win over Wagoner and Hoover. Dick DeWester came in fourth after Craig Robl dropped back after gelling his bell rung when his Yamaha shot off the track out of control nea r the double jump. Wagoner shot into the lead of the second moto and never looked back as he made it look like an easy win. Hoover held second briefly before an abrupt fall dropped him to fourth behind Robl and Sanderson. Local favorite Dan Hoover led the first two laps on his Yamaha before Wessels muscled his way by and went on for the win. J.D. Sanderson was right behind to give Hoover fits while riding a borrowed Yamaha. These two swapped the runner-up position constantly before Hoover made it stick ont he final !lo·around. Wessels got the holeshot in the second molO and steadily stretched it Out for a large margin of victory. Sanderson was in second for the first lap before Hoover jammed by and stayed there for second overall. Bret Weaver won the 250cc juniors with a 2-1 tally. He led the fiTSt moto over Curt Eveleigh for several laps before running off the track and nearly stalling in an off-camber turn, allowing Eveleigh by. Eveleigh went on to win it easily over Weaver and Tim Reif. Reif led the start of the second moto before Weaver worked by on the third lap. Reif held second all the way over Eveleigh and Mike Loflin. Eveleigh claimed second overall over Reif. Eveleigh came back to win the Open juniors. He finished second behind Tom Bohl in the first moto after playing shadow the entire moto. never able to slip past. Jerry Jones steadily improved on a fifth place start for third. Eveleigh won the second molO after working by leader Kelly Lyons at the halfway point. Lyons held onto second over Paul Schartz.
