throttle twisting and came in with a
well-earned second. Berdyck rode his
CZ as if it were a factory bike and took
third.
Carl Elbert began the Amateur
action but George Spearing was in
command by the second lap. Spearing
continued to control things and won .
Ray Arnold worked his way up through
the pack to take second. Ed Scheidler
blasted in for third . and gassing in
with fourth was John Said . The second
moto was a real contest of skill between
Scheid ler and Spea ring . First it was
Scheid ler out there with the holeshot
and the lead for three laps. Spearing
then passed Scheidler and had the lead
fo r the next five laps. On the white
flag lap , Ed regained command and
came in first. Ray Arnold took second.
Taking third pl ace was J ohn Said who
was followed by Buss Moeller with
fou rt h .
Ray Montoya was certainly th e m an
wit h the ac tion in the Novice divisio n .
He captured holeshots in both motos,
and both first place wins. Co nnie Holt
and Larry Escamilla had quite a
contest going on amongst themselves.
Larry passed Connie on the fourth lap
but Connie regained his lead on lap six
and came in with the second place
win . Bob Allo y was in there with
second place in the second rnoto.
