Southern California. Arizona·! "Z"winnerinProS In the second moto T ripes b las ted off quickly into th e lea d with Hardick a strong second a nd Bu rnworth right with them . Then Bu rnworth had trouble and was way back in eighth so Tripes and Hardick wou ld have it all to themselves, right? Wrong. Burnworth came back strong and almost caught both of them at the checke red flag! Tripes, Hardick and Burnworth in tha t order bu t nobody really lost you should have seen the look on Bobb y Su llivan 's face , watching those guys go in ' for it just for him. Lost in all the ex cit ement was another fin e fou rth overall by David McGhee . In the 500s it was all high-flying Clint Hardick with the rea l race a bar banging donnybrook for second be tween fri endly ri va ls Steve Walker and Tommy Thomas. While Walker finally got second, Thomas gave him fits in both motos and almost did the deed. In the regular program Yamaha star "Earthquake" Erik Kehoe was the class of the Expert Mini riders with a four-for -four b las t of the Stock and Modified classes. A special thanks to Kehoe, who donated the Yamaha he won at the World Mini GP bash to Ba rona Oaks to be raffled off at the NMA Nationals show to be h eld at Barona over the Fourth ofJuly weekend. Kawasaki rocket Sam Storer parlayed a lot of hard ri ding into second places in the Stock and Modified Expert Minis and an exciting come-from-behind win in the 105cc Min icycles over Intermediate rider and fellow Kawasakian Todd Campbell . Campbell then went on to blast the Stock Intermedia tes (1216) and take a come-from-behind win in the Modifieds over another Kawasaki rid er . Chris T aylor . The 12- to 16-year old Novices featured a double victory by a first-timer at Barona, Yamahamounted Terry Fowler, the Modifed win an exciting tie -breaker over Joe R incon ( Kaw). Soft-spoken Sid's the kind of guy who usually lets the ladies go first. Except when the lady is KZ1000-mounted Vicki RUT, Sid's runoffcompetition at the IDBA \\brld Finals. In an earlier run, she had soundly defeated Teny wee. And now, it was Sid's turn. Butinsteadof minding his manners, Sid gunned his Zl-R. When the smoke cleared, it was Poguefirst - for thewin and the 1980 Pro StockNo. 1 plate. Ofcourse, Sid's victory doesn't mean that men are any better than women. It just means that if you're going to beat a Kawasaki, you gotta ride a Kawasaki. Sodon't let the good timespass you by. Kawasaki Heh, heh, heh. 1980 Pro StockNo. L Sid Pogue. IT'S ABOUT TIME!
