Goodier (Yam) put it all together in O~n Intermediate wars as he aced the com~tition in consecutive motos. Goodier was shadowed all afternoon by David Banton (Yam). Ken Smith (Yam) and James Knight (Yam) completed the yellow bird sweep of the top fourslol. The classic duel of the day took place in the O~n Pro event as "Magic Monte" and "The Kid" highlighted the day's racing action. S~ncer and Anderson battled for the lead in both rounds as they left the field some 50 seconds behind. In round one Ander· son slipped by Spencer only to stall his engine which allowed Spencer to slip back by for the duration of round one. . In round two Anderson slipped under S~ncer in the same way he had in their 250cc Pro battle. S~ncer kept the pressure on, however. Anderson, with touch of "magic," was able to hold on for the moto win and the overall as S~ncer was second, Darrell Hollingshead (Suz) third with a pair of founhs and John Kolbensvik (Mai) was fourth with a 6-5 ~rfoimance. The O~n Pro event was overshadowed by the high-speed getoff of Rickey Kidd who bit it while running fourth in round two, suffering a broken back and wrist. Heal fast, Rickey. Results MINI JR: 1. Logston and Mcintyre dice for Cruces cash BySDRA LAS CRUCES, NM, MAR. 16 Scott Logston and Maby Mc Intyre, each riding all three Pro classes, took most of the cash at Las Cruces Motocross Park today. Scott, riding for Yamaha of EI Paso and Keystone Motocross Works, won the O~n and 125cc Pro classes. Maby riding for Kawasalt in the 250s, Annie D. Suzuki in the 125s and his own ~rsonal Yamaha in the O~n class, won the 250cc Pro. In the 125cc Pro first moto, Maby pulled a two-bike length holeshot that lasted all the way to the first turn. Maby's little brother Tracy (Yam) was. right behind followed by Logston. It took Scott two laps to get around Tracy. By this time Mab-y had a sixsecond lead. Scott knocked a second a lap off until he was right behind Maby. The two came down the big downhill side·by·side but tda,by held on to his -T... fiiHiOlNTJ ~ING* lead to the finish. Tracy held on to third followed by Jimmy Woleslagle (Suz) for founh. Maby again pulled the holeshot for the'second round with Scott right be· hind. Scott followed until the halfway mark when he got on the gas. These two were going for it! With one lap to go Scott passed on an uphill section and went on for the win. Maby took second and second overall. l:.here was a three· way tie for third. Kawasaki rider Mike Parker, "Mr. Consistent," broke it with a 5-5 tally. Founh went to Woleslagle's 4-4 and Tracy McIntyre at 5·5 was fifth. The SUggJ brothers dominated the 250cc Amateur class. Danny (Suz) easily won both motos while Wayne (Suz) took second. This win advanced Danny to the Pro division. Bobby Nichols also advanced to the Pro division after winning the 125cc Amateur class. The best of luck to both these riders in their new encoun· ters of a professional kind. o HI-POINT HAS THE FINEST IN M-X PANTS Available in stock or custom designs at your Hi-Point Dealer ~ • o.n Reem rules Oklahoma MX By Rebecca Sands BILLINGS, OK, MAR. 16 While most of the people were in Texas this weekend, some who weren't kicked up their heels and a litde dust racing in Billings. On a spring-like day, everyone definitely carne to have a good time; they got even more than they bargained for when they saw the great track prepara· tion. Much hard work had been done and the racers appreciated it. In the 250cc Novice class, Dennis Osborn (Yarn) sailed with the breeze to capture the first moto. Travis Carter (Hon) rode second for a while until Rodger Kroot (Suz) found a line to pass. Brian Manley (Suz) managed to get through the pack to place third. The second moto started with a re~at ~rformance by Osborn out of the gate. Success was short-lived, however, because at the end of the first lap Osborn took a spill. Carter, unable to see the downed bike and rider at the top after a dip, rammed into both bike and owner. Each got going again, though. The moto ended with Manley grabbing first, Congdon second and Caner third. Th~ combined 250/0~n Ex~Tt race started with Bob Sanford (Yam) getting to the corner first followed by Paul Read (Mai) and Rod Reem (Hon). Reern passed Read on the last lap to claim second. Reem gained first position out of the gate in the second moto with Read not far behind. Sanford passed' to finish • second, Read got third. Results MINI: 1. BobbV Budd.; 2. Mike Hemmer tKaw). BEG: 1.
