Sullivan, Jorski and Day mob pay line at Mosier Valley By Charlie Wiese ARLINGTON, TX, DEC. 2 North Texas motocross enthusiasts were treated to some fine racing from mini to mighty. Mosier, a track usually domi- -' 34 nated by Dallas·Ft. Wonh riders, was in fine shape, fairly fast with no dust. The morning program began with the Mini Juniors "moving dirt" first. David Barnhill dominated the action with Scott Chandler taking second place honors. Tim Long led the way in the Mini Senior action with Jeff Barker in his roost for most of the morning. Butch Wesson and David Chandler rounded out the top four in the Mini Senior class with Flynn Coon and Shane McMahon following in order. "Old Man," T.C. Carter led the Over 30 Juniors on his self sponsored, self tuned Yamaha. T.C. was followed by "Go Home" Gorman who was "Iookin' good" with consistent rides in bothmotos. Over 50 Intermediate action was inteme, with Gary "lead foot" Chandler coming back after a first moto battle with Tom Hollister to take the overall honors. Bob "Superman" Pope wound up third with Sonny Triutt, Mike Pegues and Elmer Morgan following in the overall column. Roger Schellenberger showed the small field of l00cc Novices who's boss. Chris Parker came back for second with James "Red Baron" Stoner third. Dub McAda led Division One of the 125cc Novices when the moto finishes were tallied. McAda came from a poor start in round two to finish second behind Chris Hance. Hance was second overall with Pat DansbY' third. Division Two was a Robby Wilson benefit as Wilson, aboard an '80 model RM, blitzed the field for the overall win. Craig Sullaksen was second with Ricky Prailey making it into the top three. Jacyce McMahon led the 250cc Novices to the checkers after some tight racing with Tommy Wieboech. The two young racers were handlebar to handlebar with Tom Johnson following in third and Vern Jablonsky a consistent founh. Open Novice action was dominated by Greg Butler who was flawless all morning long. keeping his blue bike in front from gate to flag. Joseph George was second with Glover Smith rounding out the top three. The last race of the morning program was the new Beginner class. Joe McNeely proved quickest with wins in both motos. Kent Sperling was also consistent and quick, ending up second overall. The 125cc Intermediate class was first to pound the starting gate .with "Lil" Jeff Pendergraft's Suzuki moving through the pack to win with a perfect score. Todd Smith and Lloyd Olson followed the speedster in the overall column. 125cc Expert action was next with Randy Sullivan dominating both motos with his fluid form. Randy Kirschbaum, from Kansas, came from behind to finish second ahead of Kirk Dillon and Terry Maddalazo. Nathan Nash put together a pair of consistent rides to take the 250cc Intermediate c1asss. Jeff Kring was second after a tough second moto battle. "Okie" Trey Jorski took home the bucks in the 250cc Expert class. After a race long battle with early leaders Robbie Pannell and Nick "The Stick" Cordova, Jorski received the nod in the deciding moto. Cordova was second, after a flat in the first moto and a close encounter with Pannell in the second moto. Randy Kirschbaum tried to steal the show by winning the first moto but he had trouble in the second round. Pannell's consistent 4·4 finishes were good for third, aceing out Kirschbaum with a better showing in the second moto. Open Intermediate racing was headed by Gary "The Nose" Mason who came back after bike problems in the first moto to win the second. David Smith was second with Eddie Sames third all day. The day's racing was topped off with tbe exciting Open Experts. "Okie," John Day won out in a three way tie with Monte Anderson and Kirk Spencer by winning the second moto. Day beld off Anderson in round two with .the power of his kitted Yamaha proving too much for the talented Anderson; a first tum encoutner claimed half the other riders and slowed the starn of both Anderson and Spencer.
