Doug Maxwell (Yam) lead while Steve Piatto~ (Kaw) and Jones went at it. But on the fourth lap, jones was on top and he stayed. th,t;re all the way to the end while Piattoni nailed a second ahead of Ammex-mounted Darrell Ritchey and Maxwell'. Jones had to work for it again in the next race w'ith Piattoni leading most of the way. It was in the late laps. that Jones finally pu t a move on Piattoni , and made it stick. The second moto results read identically to the first ·round's. In the Pro classes it was Andy Orescanin (Suz) of Rivenide Suzuki who took the spotlight. He took the fint round handily while Bill Chapin (Hon) was. second over Dave Coyle and Greg Gibboney but had more trouble in the next race. He crasbed on the fint lap and had to spend' the rest of the race trying to reel in Chapin. It was in the late laps' that the two were within dicing distance, bu~ Chapin was having ignition troubles and wasn't in much condition to put up a fight. Orescanin flew by and took the win while Chapin held on to second over Coyle. Scott Wilkinson (Hon) took the 250cc Pro class with a 2-2 score. In the , fint race, Juan Be,!avidez led until he lost his chain, then Keith Willianlson (Yam) took over. Wilkinson wasn't far behind and soon they were going fQT it. It was on the fourth lap'. that Wilkinson took the lead, only to give it back two laps later by crashing. Williamson took the moto 'with Wi1Itinson second: _ Benavidez came back in the next race and won easily. Wilkinson was second: again a.nd that was good ." enough for the top money over Williamson. In the Beginner ranks, Mark Stuen picked up the Mini overall victory with a 2·4 leore, defeating Dan Ca.rpeI1-ter's :'1.:'1 and Stagg Summers' +4. Tony Puga and Chris Baladez picKed up moto wins, but fell outside the top 10 their second rides. In the 100s, Eric. Silgerp had an easy victory as-Bobby· Wright and Balke Vitali D,NF their second motos, while in 'the one-two,' fives, Vince Felund ended with a onefour overall score that 'tied' Ken Crowder's :'1·2, and Crowder got' the nod for the overall. For ~he250cc class, Jeff Bouchuilla defeated Mike Emeron and first,moto winner ROdger '. ~ Williams for the win. Dave Pintar ,took his Yam-aha to the Open Novice victory, 'while pan Martens and Mike Kell battled, for' second. Kell's :'1-2 was good I!nou:g~ for' second overall. with 'Martens going"2-!. Paul Bebek and John Biffle battled intensley for the 250cc N~vice overall, and Bebek's second moto victory gave' him the win over Biffle and Ron Nicoletti. In the 125s, Greg Benton went for a pair of seconds and grabbed the overall win ahead of first moto winner Mike Tappeiero and second moto winner Frank Costanza. Picking up the Mini overall was Jim Haupt, over Jeff Barbacovi. Intermediate action saw Ty Maddux and Charles Osterday trade moto wins in the Mini ranks, with Maddux taking the overall. .Greg Atkinson and Dave Harman were the top duo in the 250s, while the Open Intermediate win went to Dave Sprint.
